Watch the bridges :L I knew going into this weekend it could be epic or epically horrific. With the added effect of the Malkin injury it went into legendary levels of suck. AND I died on Oregon Trail. No mercy.

It's only a game. Would have been nice to win but it didn't happen. Congrats to the Pack fans.

I tell myself that all the time. Somehow from the moment I think it to the moment it must come to fruition something goes wrong and I suddenly care too much again. Gotta a few things though: there aren't a ton of teams in the league that I wouldn't despise losing to (and GB is one, they're classy), and two, this one doesn't hurt NEARLY as bad as the '08 SCF loss.

Green Bay has always been a team that i cannot help but like. Like you said Pix, i don't mind them winning at all. Plus Aaron Rodgers seems to come across as a nice guy and a class act.

You are way too young to remember but the most stinging sports loss for me was the Pirates/Braves NLCS in '92. I was sick for days over it. Volek beating Barrasso 7 months later wasn't even close considering the Pens had just come off of 2 cup wins.

Was it cholera? I always died of cholera. In fact, I don't recall ever dying of anything but cholera.

I thought the game sucked, personally. It wasn't because the Steelers lost (the Packers are my second-favorite team, and part of me is happy they won it), but because it just wasn't all that great of a football game. It was just a bunch of mistakes. The Packers sucked less, though, and give them credit for coming prepared and ready to play. The game was close, and it was exciting, but there were just so many dropped passes, stupid penalties, missed blocks, missed tackles and turnovers that I can't really even pick out one truly great play in the game. Just a bunch of really bad ones.

Yeah, I wasn't nearly as enthused about how "great" a game it was either. Not rooting for either team, I was only hoping that the score would be close to the end. Which it was. Still, like most super bowls, I won't remember a thing about it two years from now.

^ Hockey fan. :)

I was actually interested (in a morbid way I suppose) as to how I'd react comparitivly. Let me set the scene for you...it was a warm June evening in the year 2008, and the Pix family gathered round the television set to watch game 6 in hopes their team could mount a comeback in the series. After about 55 minutes, it was looking bleak. Very bleak. So Erin here single handily drove every member of her family away because they were annoying. First Mom made a stupid comment and both Dad and Erin scoffed her away, she was angry and left. Then my Dad got so incredibly pessimistic I blew a gasket and yelled at him, and he stormed away. Then after the game, idiot brother comes down and says "pfft, the Wings suck anyway." Erin: *glares* "Obviously NOT, because they JUST WON."
FADE AWAY
FADE IN TO ABOUT 90 MINUTES AGO
"F**K" *worries about how people will literally never let me live this down and how I have no one to mope with on campus :( * Then walks back to dorm, accepting loss.

I think a lot of it is because the NHL playoffs just use up sooooo much more emotion.

And agreed, a very unmemorable Super Bowl. And the commercials sucked.

Hockey is a longer grind. Once you get to the finals the emotional tension has built up over weeks.

EDIT: Clarification...I know football playoffs last weeks too, but hockey isn't 1 game a week. It's several with lots of twists and turns.

To add to the pain is seeing the reports on Sid being out until "at least March" being still 4-6 weeks out from game play, possibly being out until the last few weeks of the season. What's next eh? The Pirates sucking?!?! Wait...don't tell me...

I'm kinda confused by this. Aren't concussion symptoms kind of a day-to-day thing? How can they come out and say he'll be out another month when he could start having no symptoms two days from now?

Maybe someone with more knowledge on this can comment.

Well, what this makes me think is...well, mutliple things. I sincerely think he has post-concussion syndrome (which really just means that he has symptoms that linger longer than most people's...) which is really setting him back. He was cleared for light workouts, but obviously those aren't progressing too well. The way I see it is this: even if he does stop having symptoms in a few days, he's still a few weeks away. When the concussion lingers this long you have to be especially careful...so he'll have to do diagnostic testing, then exertion testing, as well as getting into game shape again to be competitive (because that's often the killer with concussions. You're not allowed to stay in shape). So, even though March or 4-6 weeks seems a bit over the top, I suppose if a few weeks of getting ready are factored in it makes sense. Some painful sense.

I have no idea if his time frame is 4-6 weeks because i have read where his concussion is more spinal than cerebral. Don't know if that makes a difference but he needs to get healthy.
