1 game is a really small sample size, but no doubt that one game was quite impressive. If they can actually get their offense clicking (I'm skeptical based on Calipari's track record at UK) they should be terrifying.

I would agree but I have to say that Cal's teams have truly never been about offense (although the dribble drive has been the media's go-to without much talk about his defensive mindset) - if you look at how his teams have won, and won big going back to Memphis, it all starts with defense.

He talked about it last night... the offense is a work in progress but if they can continue to play defense like last night, they can afford to have off-nights on the offensive side of the ball.

Needless to say, I'm excited about the possibilities this team brings but I would agree once again that one game is very small sample size.

Just about every team Kentucky plays this season is going to shoot that badly. Kansas is a good team. It's hard to shoot the ball when you get 12-13 shots blocked and another dozen or so altered. KU has several 6'6'' to 6'9'' guys. You could tell by their faces they were totally shellshocked

Not knocking UK's ability, but last night, that Kansas team was the least prepared team I've seen enter a game this year. I'm not sure whether to pin it on the players abilities at KU, or blame coach self... but they had no game plan at all. Seemingly ran no plays.. no balls screens.. the high pick and roll. The same two guys ran in and got stuffed each time. Kansas seemed to want to play street ball with UK and keep running up and down the court as fast as they could. Of course UK's going to love that and destroy any team who tries it. It was almost like these Kansas players had never played together before. I can't call Kansas a good team after what I saw. Maybe they'll be a good team by the end of the season, but they have a LOT of work ahead of them.

So how far should Kansas fall? Yeah, they played a freak of mother nature but didn't even look like they belonged on the same court.

Is a 6 spot fall too generous?

This is hard to call.. at this particular moment, it would be hard for me to call Kansas a top 25 team. I'm sure they will be by the end of the year, but at the moment...

Kansas barely beat UCSB... then got killed by Kentucky. Granted it's Kentucky, but Buffalo put up a better fight. With the facts on hand, you have to say that Buffalo > Kansas.

I think you're going a little overboard with the "KU isn't a top 25 team". Alexander and Oubre barely played at all in the first half and were in foul trouble the entire game. They are good, and let's not overreact over one game

Kansas will be a sweet 16 to elite 8 team this season. UK is that good. Of the 10 kids in the platoons, at least 8 of them will be 1st rounders at some point, and possibly all 10. It wouldn't surprise me if Willis ends up getting drafted too

At this particular moment I don't see them as a top 25 team. They should have the potential to be right up there at the end of the season, but right now I don't see it.

MSU is #20 and is an EXTREMELY down team right now with injuries and players lost to the NBA. In fact, I thought Duke would run them off the court. But even in this condition, I have a hard time thinking Kansas can beat MSU right now.

I guess this is what I'm basing it on.

What is your honest opinion of this idea of having platoons? Right now when it doesn't matter, let everyone play and try this out.. but come tourney time, do you still want to see Calipari using this?

Glad KU got smoked. No chance they will have big heads any time soon. Self is a great coach and will fix that mess.

I think it's advantages far outweigh it's disadvantages. Foul trouble will never come into play. They can withstand a key injury. They can come in and play as hard as possible 5 minutes at a time and wear teams out defensively.

I was thinking about who would sit if they shortened the rotation. Probably Poythress, Lee and Booker, but why sit them? They all bring a lot to the table

I was watching the Duke game and thinking about Okafor. Between WCS, Johnson, Lyles and KAT, UK can run four different guys as big as he is at him, always fresh. They can also make him work hard on the defensive end. I think it's Duke smaller, quicker guards that will give UK the most trouble. Not really worried about Okafor

Agreed. The look on the Kansas' players faces were that of utter shock; almost as if they knew they were completely outmatched and had no clue what to do offensively. Kentuckys at the rim defense was phenomenal. It's going to be very difficult for teams to score easy buckets on them especially if they're constantly rotating 5 solid players fresh off the bench. They made a good kansas team look less than mediocre last night.

I think we are going to see that look on just about everything teams face they play this year except for the lucky few.

I feel like I haven't seen a college team put together like this, ever. It's going to be interesting to see how coaches react with there game plans verse UK. Maybe exploit with speed, have an amazing night at the 3 and have a few bigs that can at least hang around enough to let the guards go at it. Should be interesting to see how future teams react.

A lot of coaches may be wishing there water bottles are filled with vodka once Kentucky rolls through.
