OK honest question here. Lets just pretend for a moment RAK never plays another down in the NFL, can any one now really fault him for gonig after the most money he could get. I realize from a fan and team point you want to try and get guys for the least amount possible. But seriously even the lowest paid guy is risking alot more than most of us at our everyday job.... for the entertainment of us beer swilling knuckle dragging cave men who aren't talented enough to play the game at that level. Sure I want to see the team get the best deal possible. BUt when compared to the risks, no one would be complaining if a guy plays for rookie minimum and sets records. SO I dont see why all the hate and discontent over a guy wanting to get paid as much as he can.

1. Its not coming out of our pockets.

and 2. For as much as people say player X hurts the team by tryingto get "Over Paid", if your team cant pay what a guy is asking and still put a solid team together, start faulting the team.

Dont hate the player, hate the game.

You can't fault a player for asking, it is the managements mistake if they over pay. With all the people that have been overpaid in Washington I would rather see Orakpo get it than some of the others that got a boat load of money here.

I know a lot of what is said about him sounds like bashing but it isn't really. We as fans don't have to like when we think someone is overpaid though either. I think he got his big pay day, I know he wishes it was for longer. I'd be happy to see Washington keep him at a lower rate.

I don't think anyone begrudges him for seeking as much as he can get. We all strive to do that in our own jobs. I really was against tagging him because I just never thought he was worth the price, but I do understand why the team did it. But, as happens with many players on this team, they believe their worth is more than any other team does. How many times have we seen in the last few years players on this team decline our offer, head to FA, and get no interest. Then they come back and resign for much less than what they were seeking.

The real question is do the skins try and sign him early, before he is healed, with a multiyear contract and a reduced rate but with performance incentives that could bump him up near the level he thinks he deserves? That might be the best deal he is gonna get.

I think that is the right idea j_y, a lower base with lucrative incentives. That covers the Skins for injuries but gives Orakpo a chance to earn the money.

Exactly. At this point fans are knowledgeable enough to understand that a player is doing what every one of us would do if we were in their position. But we are also knowledgeable enough to understand that the money spent on Rak could have been used to fill other needs. So even though we are not paying his salary directly as fans we are very much effected by the deal he signs.

I really don't see a return. I think that ship has sailed and he will go somewhere else and play very well just as Chris Cleamons and Andre Carter did. .

One thing that hasn't been asked yet, but should be. What in the fuck is wrong with Orapko's pectoral muscles? Three tears in 3 years? Dude is like a machine where they ran out of parts and used rubber bands to hold his arms onto his body. Seriously... its worse than Chris Webber's shoulders!
