He was giving me shit about being in the Big 10 so I asked him if he feels like VT will be able to beat their big rival East Carolina this year or not.

Man, a couple of years ago I would have been super pissed about this loss and would be screaming obscenities (I was at the Boise St. game in DC and was an absolute wreck the whole week following). I had to take a step back and realized that it is a game played by young men in college and no matter how upset I got, it made no nevermind to those young guys. Now, I definitely enjoy it when I can, but a loss is not the end of the world. I know we have an extremely young team and I'm just hoping that they learned something from it.

Well...fuck. even after the OSU domination I didn't have any grand illusions that we were playoff bound. But I didn't think our first loss was coming this early. Hats off to ecu, they came out firing and it was too much to answer back. Lots of work to be done still.

The reason I'm asking is to gauge your "hatred" of a man that built the program from essentially nothing into a consistent winner that can compete for national championships. Most likely not year in and year out, regardless of who the coach is, but with that one special year, player(s), and team, we could. We are not a "blue blood" in a recruiting hot spot. However, we've got a program that is consistently competing for the conference and doing so "the right way".

We'd all love for VT and especially Beamer to win a NC. However, my enjoyment in watching my team is not diminished in any way if we don't.

No one should ever be content with mediocrity, but I think that the past couple years of recruiting classes have been excellent and while this year there will be a slight learning curve, we'll have a pretty decent shot next year. Our team is EXTREMELY young and you had to expect a few hiccups along the way. I know I sound like a broken record, but if our young guys learned from this game, it's a positive in my opinion.
