There ya go

idk, how big was this "switch", I see 7+ marks, if he hit him 7+ times then that is abuse since this obviously was painful... But if this was a quick couple of hits that just made these marks then i could understand it better...

The smaller the switch the easier it is to cut. Thicker ones are the way to go

Had much worse than that when I was little, wouldn't do it to my kid, but we aren't talking about my kid.

Lets stop comparing our childhoods to this situation... the laws are different!!! just because the laws are more strict doesnt mean they should not be followed!!!

Not defending what he did, but that logic is pretty foolish because we all know all laws are good and use common sense.

whether you like a law or not is not the point... But if you are caught breaking a law you should be punished... that is just the way it is!!! fight the law, dont fight for the law breaker!!!

This isn't even debatable. That is a baby right there!

Can you imagine whipping a baby over and over again and hearing it cry? And then continuing to whip anyways?

Fuck that. Fuck anyone who is that sick in the head.

Like I said, I'm not defending him. What he did was wrong. But to say someone should be punished simply because they broke the law, regardless of the law is foolish. Broad sweeping generalizations are never a good thing.

All i said was punished, not how hard of a punishment... of course there are degrees for everything...

I agree with this, but a lot of people are dismissing this incident with "Aw, I got hit with a switch when I was young, it's just discipline." Also foolish.

I agree he went overboard but I've seen worse happen at Wal-Mart.

People are allowed to discipline their children how they see fit within a realistic realm of conscious. I wouldn't do it to my kid but I also know people that won't even smack their own kid on the hand.

I see anger management and a fine in his future but some compare this to what Rice, Hardy or McDonald did and that is just as foolish IMO.

I have never in my life seen anyone whip their child until their bleeding in Wal-Mart.......and then keep going while everyone is watching.

Never seen anything like that.

Like I said before, if I did ever witness anything like that in Wal-Mart or anywhere else in public, that parent would be dead and I would be awaiting trial.

No human-being in their right mind would allow that to happen if they saw that.

Trudem, are you reading the same story and seeing the same pictures that everyone else is?

Look, I've been an AP fan since day one and I deeply wish that somehow this story is false, but...c'mon, man! The kid is 4 years old.

Flogging a 4 year old until they are bleeding seems worse than what the others did. At a minimum, just as bad.

from rotoworld:
Peterson was booked and charged by police before being released on $15,000 bond. Peterson is accused of reckless or negligent injury to a child stemming from an incident in which Peterson allegedly caused cuts to his 4-year-old son's legs while spanking him with a "switch." Peterson will not play on Sunday, and will likely face further discipline from both the Vikings and the NFL.

I guess in todays' society there is a fine line between discipline and abuse - or maybe not since 'timeout' seems to be the popular thinking now. .... No report on how bad the 'cuts' were, or who notified police. Not sure how to feel about until we hear more. .... but if it was just discipline, then everyone should butt the heck out.

I saw the photos taken by the hospital when Peterson's ex brought the kid in. He had slashes that were Partially healed (week old)across the thighs and buttocks. Not one or two, I saw at least 6-8 large cuts across the thighs. He beat the shit out of a four year old over a video game. The mother was shocked because the kid said it hurt to walk....................

The NFL is now squarely painted into a corner. Advertisers are threatening to pull ads. It was stated this morning that 'several' corporations were pulling ads from CBS for the Vikings-Patriots game Sunday unless both the NFL and Vikings came firmly against child abuse publicly.

I agree that a direct comparison of these incidents is not directly applicable, but I am not sure that makes it any better.

I seriously doubt that AP intended to hurt his kid, but he sure did. At best, he showed horrible judgement and he should be punished.
