Okay here is my top 10 all time favorite Rangers,(I couldn't stop at just five.)

Pudge
Buddy Bell
Sundberg
Greer
Palmeiro
Hargrove
Juando
Franco
Sierra
Fergie

A special mention to Nolan, Harrah, Oddibe, Al Oliver and Jose Guzman.

He hit .350 when nothing was at stake, and .280 when it did IMO.

I forget who the great scout's name we had back in the olden days, but he said his greatest regret was not seeing Ruben Sierra be in the Hall-of-Fame. He said Ruben was the greatest waste of talent - all on Sierra - he'd ever seen, much less helped sign.

I thought about him and I believe he won a batting title which is unusual for RHers.

I am surprised at how few include MY. The guy was a hitting machine for many years and I liked him at 2b.

MY would not be in my top 15, maybe top 20.

Good grief. Looking back we have had our share of excellence.:10:
We really did, but unfortunately not enough pitching on our lists...our terminal weakness...!

One that I thought about was Charlie Hough... A staple on some pretty poor pitching staffs for years...he was adequate, but I often found him frustrating ....typical knuckleballer, good days and bad days...

Imagine if the black hole of suck Carp wasn't hitting third...Rangers might have had a big inning.

I was leaving pitchers out or I would include Kenny Rogers and Nolan.

Well....that's a mistake.

Look at his numbers over his career vs whomever it is you have so valued and he'll smoke them.

On an unrelated note: The Aggies are kicking the crap outta South Carolina.

We have had some good pitching, but I usually favored position players over pitchers. Honeycutt, Rogers, Nolan, Witt, Brown, Bibby, Perry, Medich, Matlack, Correa, Hill, and a few others I can't think of right off the top of my head.

It is not a mistake because it is my top 10-15 players. I get to pick who I want. There are no mistakes. I am not basing it all on who was best.

MY would not be in my top 15, maybe top 20.

Okay. But he had 5 straight 200 hit seasons and led the league in hits and avg in 2005. He played in 155 games 12 of 13 seasons. Not including the last season hit 300 or better in 7 of 9 seasons and 7 time All Star. I think we have to be careful about thinking of him that last year as being what we had all those years. The time we ran into Showalter at the Pensacola Airport he asked our sons who their favorite Ranger was and they said MY and Showalter said he is mine too.

Thanks for the laugh..... You called it.

Just had a feeling that he would make contact enough to get two outs. RBI are a dumb stat, but at least he didn't even get one for that.

I forgot about Kevin Brown. He may have been our best. Too bad that he was our union rep as that soured him on the Rangers. Edwin Correa and Juan Guzman would have been special if not for arm injuries.

Don't forget Blyleven...he had one decent year with us...I was so excited when we traded for him, but he didn't last long with us.

I wouldn't have any problem with someone having him fairly high on their all time favorite Rangers list. I just don't have him on mine. I go back a long ways and have a lot of players to choose from though.
