i get tired of tyranny being disguised as justice . changing the name doesnt do one thing to help the plight of american indians . but its better to feel good then be good

saying you are a fan of a team and hating the name doesnt jive . a true blue redskins fan isnt going to say 'Change the name " sorry it doesnt work that way

and you can tap dance all you want sty , it is what it is you cant say i believe in jesus but despise his name

I dont believe in god and even I can agree with that.

So basically all this to say, change to name to something like Apache, and pay a tidy sum to the tribe in Question... then its ok?? So then its not about hurt feelings so much as the Indigenous peoples not getting their cut??

And trademark revocation is simply the first step in filing a class action civil suit for pain and suffering caused by the team using the word as a team name. And sorry dude, if Smokers can sue Phillip Morris for damages when they knowingly used the product, I think a group of supposedly injured Indigenous peoples will file a $5 billion Dollar suit against the team and even if the team wins it will cost enough that the team will either have to move or be sold.

sty is being foolish . history has proven that changing the name ends the history . the wizards are not the bullets . period . the titans arent the oilers , period , the ravens arent the browns period the senators are not the rangers or twins . the nats arent the expos

john riggins name wont appear on a red tails jersey or sonny or charlie or billy or bobby . that will go away

do we bleep redskins from the nfl films histories of the superbowls blackout old nfl scorboards . line through records because how can you print the slurs ?

as for snyder , he is a jew . he faces persecution every day and no race of people has been persecuted more then the jews and still are today so i believe he knows what a slur is

You wrote........"i get tired of tyranny being disguised as justice".....I could not agree with you more, just from the other side of the coin.

When did I ever say that I "hated" the name? I have stated that I am for the name change. My reasons being a lot more personal than you could ever imagine. A true blue FANATIC (Fan) might not say "Change the name" but those of us who are a bit less fanatical and a bit more reasoned would.

Good point about Jesus, let's see if I can make one up. OK got it! Tap dance all you want Dad, Saying that you are a fair minded person and unwilling to see another point of view about this team doesn't jive. It is what it is, you can't say that you believe in Jesus but hate everything that he stood for.

You DID ask!!! What happens in the future no one knows. Remember I am not a plaintiff in any of these action, nor am I a defendant. If Mr. Snyder wants to fight in court and lose that is his choice. If Mr. Snyder want to fight in court and Win that too is his choice. I say why take the chance or prolong the thing? He should be proactive and take charge of the situation. I don't care if he changes it to the Snydermen, just stop prolonging this thing and let's win some football games. It is not going away!!!

You imply that our and the team owners reasons for wanting to keep the name can not be any where near as deeply personal and important as your reasons for wanting it changed. I love my team. I have loved my team since the age of 5. to me they are the Redskins and that has NEVER been a negative term in the way I have used it or known it. so yea, to be forced to change the name would be deeply and personally insulting and hurtful.

So let me ask Sty... would you tell one of your kids to simply submit to the bully and give up their lunch money because in the end the bully isnt going to go away and you dont want your kid to fight?? Basically what you are saying is, the bully isnt going to go away, you cant win the fight, so just give up the dollar and all will be well.

i am a fair minded person . i disagree with the premise and i see through the attempt of the thought poilice to control people's thoughts

i dont believe the name is a slur . the data by the best source says it isnt (the Smithsonian institute )

the polls back up my stance

the complaints to federal agencies back up my stance period

if you cant tell the difference between a fan and a fanatic and the connotations those words imply i cant help you

your view is the MINORITY view' by a vast margin and when the small minority forces its viewpoint on the majority it is called tyranny .

and believe me they are trying to FORCE the change by going through the courts , through the wallet and through the press . if they were not then we would be in court

i am fairly sure i can go through and find posts where you said you were offended by the name , but wait offended doesnt really mean hate so lets split a hair shall we ? of course degrees of hate and how its used dont change the meaning either do they ?

you have said you werent allowed to use the term in your home . that you didnt own redskins paraphernalia.
couldnt sing hail to the redskins and that the only reason you follow the team is because you root for the home team no matter what much like robert e lee rooted for the Confederates. he didnt care about slavery at all he cared about was good ole virgina home .

yet you follow that example with the redskins name damn the slur its the home team . or that is what you try to sell us

Really??? I guess you're right.........If this team had relocation in mind. The Bullets were a Baltimore based team, The Oilers were a Houston based team, the Browns are a Cleveland based team, the Rangers are a Texas based team and the Expos were a Montreal based team what did they ALL have in common that is different than this team?..................THEY ALL MOVED!!!!

Why would their names go away from New Jerseys? I'll bet that if there is a demand for jerseys with their names on them that is associated with a new name, where they receive a royalty, there would be no objections from ANY of them.

I believe that you've answered your own question about bleeping out and such. The answer is you wont, in fact you can't without destroying original materials. Back to the point, anyone who goes from any of the cities that you've mentioned and research their history will notice the change in both name and location. Wanna guess which team wont have that problem? The Washington Snydermen or whatever.

You wrote this before about Mr. Snyder being a Jew. So, I'm politely asking you again to please do some research about his origins before you associate him or his ancestry with the Jews of biblical times.

Simple question... when was the last time you heard the Redskins referred to as the Boston Braves of the NFL?? You dont, because that HISTORY has been forgotten since the team changed its name the last time. And the Bullets were in DC well before they changed their name to the Wizards... yet and still that history is not associated with the current team name except loosely.

So then are you stating that your reasons for wanting the team name changed holds more importance than Dan Snyders or my reason for not wanting it changed??

Again we don't agree on who's the bully. This is a nation of laws, any disputes that can not be worked out between parties in a civilized world, do so in our courts. Can't see where the courts are the bully.

Yea right. Aside from a google search or some one 90 years old, most people dont even remember the redskins used to be in Boston. Hell most people dont even remember the Colts used to be in Baltimore before the Ravens who were originally the Browns.

Most people by your reckoning then, select what they choose to know. Let's use Skinsdad example in this case. No one walking the earth were alive when Jesus The Christ walked it, yet millions who have read or followed his pronouncements are willing to follow, research and incorporate his teachings everyday. However, they are reluctant to research the history of their teams.

BTW: Like you, I'm also not one of them.

So remind me whats the dispute?? Oh right... Some ones hurt feelings over what they think a word means so no one else should be allowed to utter that word. Oh wait, the real dispute is no one should be allowed to profit off the use of a word that hurts some one elses feelings. Again show me an instance where the team or its fans have used said named word, even unintentionally to cause harm to you, Mrs Harjo or the American Indian population at large?? You cant, she cant. So its using the court to try and force the team to do what a select few people want. You act as if our court system is above being used. And in this case the court is being used to bully a private company to do what a select group of people wants to further that select groups agenda.

By that logic, every black comedian who ever went on stage should be sued for use of the N word. Its a KNOWN undisputed racial slur and they profit off of the use of that word every time they go on stage.
