I'm giving my tickets for tonight's game to my Dad. On the tickets it says it's a 7:05 first pitch, but says 6:15 on ESPN. Does it have something to do with being a nationally televised game?

I expect a better game out of Mikolas. I may be one of very few but I think he has the stuff to succeed...eventually.

Yeah CBS has it at 6:15 on FOX. Think it was originally a FSSW game and got picked up by FOX. Hope to see a better Mikolas, for sure

It's still an illegal substance in Texas. Alcohol is much worse than pot and alcohol is legal. I don't smoke because I have a job that drug tests periodically. He had under 2 ounces and I think it's ridiculous to arrest someone for that. Our state is very strict, conservative, and closed minded. We'll probably be the 49th state to legalize, with Oklahoma being the last.

In fact, medical studies have shown long-term and life-extending benefits of drinking certain types of wine in moderation. Marijuana has some medicinal benefits as well, but it can also be just as harmful to the body as alcohol.

Furthermore, your assessment of Texas as the 2nd most "closed-minded" state in the US just shows that you haven't been to the southeast US or visited the city of Austin for that matter. Texas had a Democrat governor not that long ago and has several "blue" counties. It's a conservative state, but not anywhere near to the degree you're describing.

Big towns usually swing left and rural areas vote right. Just how it is. Unless that rural area is heavily Hispanic then they might swing left too. However the big names that control the state like Abbott and the like aren't exactly big on change. But you know baseball and all that!

It depends. If your just talking state politics, Texas isn't even in the top 10 of conservative states and that is taking into account that a democratic presidential candidate hasn't carried the state in 38 years. However, if you're talking about working, business, and day to day living, Texas is at the top of the list.

Poreda's solid early performance is the one that most questionable to me, seems that he's come back to earth a bit, oh well, try the next guy

In the positive Roman Mendez has looked good thus far...been ready for him to make the jump since we got him from the red Sox in the salty trade

Poreda had like a 0 ERA for his first 3/4 outings and then it went backwards fast.

I'm well aware that Austin is a liberal stronghold in Texas, but they are literally a blue dot in a sea of red. The Tea party flourishes in Texas and struggles in all other conservative states. To not think that Texas is the face of the Republican Party is crazy.
