As some of you know I recently traded my 2nd and 3rd round pick for an additional 1st round pick. Well I got an offer for my second pick in the first round:

Giving - #7, Cordarrelle Patterson and Bernard Pierce

Getting - #22, Ben Tate and Percy Harvin

Is Harvin and Tate enough to give up my second pick in the 1st?

Here is how my RB and WR depth would be if accepted:

RB:
Pick #5 - Forte or Lacy
Montee Ball
Ben Tate
Rashad Jennings
Pierre Thomas

WR:
Jordy Nelson
Pierre Garcon
Victor Cruz
Percy Harvin

IMO #7 is the last chance at one of the top 6 RBs because someone is most likely going to take either Manning/Rodgers or Megatron.

Thoughts?

Not even close.

If I were you, I forget about Tate and use those 2 picks to get your RBs. Patterson and Harvin is a toss-up and I think I actually prefer Patterson. That #7 pick is extremely valuable considering who you can get with it. The value at #22 falls off significantly and I would need a stud keeper to make up for it. Not sure he can even get there.

Im not seeking out Tate...the guy is just aggressively shopping him. I agree that the pick dropoff is too much to even consider.

I would def stick with Patterson Harvin can't get past training camp. they are not even going to let him practice. He wont last dont risk it plus even if harvin stays healthy all year which is a big IF I still thing patterson will out produce him in Norvs system

Also, if for some reason the top 6 RBs are gone, you could always grab Megatron with the 7 pick. Ball and Jennings make for a pretty good 2-3 punch. While I think it might be best to get those stud RBs, you will have options.

Still no. Patterson is as valuable if not more so, and the gap between 7 and 13 is worth a significant bump- like Tate + 13 for your 7 + scrub.

yea, you shouldn't be giving up the better player AND the better pick. Even if Harvin outperforms Patterson this year, no way that continues. Patterson was a work-in-progress when drafted, and all reports out of MIN indicate he is putting in the work.

I think this guy is aggressively shopping Tate since he is worried that the shit is imploding in CLE, and he is hoping to get RB1 value out of Tate, which is crazy. And he is also hoping you don't realize that Patterson will be a stud a year or two down the road.

Patterson - at least 1 rec in the last 16 games played by the Vikings.
Harvin - has only played in 10 of his team's (SEA and MIN) last 32 regular season games, including only 1 so far as a Seahawk.

2 things with that:
-Harvin is WAY WAY too fragile for me to draft him anywhere close to where he is going right now in drafts. (mid-low end WR2)
-Patterson was at least looked at in every game he played in the NFL so far. Not bad for an athlete that still has a ton of room to grow.

even in a straight up 1 for 1 trade, I'd say the team getting Patterson in a keeper league is getting the better end. Will be interesting to see the Harvin-Wilson connection and if it develops in a run-first scheme, but Harvin has to stay on the field more before I get him on my roster.

Everyone has it as usual do not do it...if u get 7 and he gets 22 i would still wrestle with it

Harvin isnt worth being a major part of any trade...
