Unless you do a sign and trade I'd be very surprised to see anyone give up a 1st round pick for a guy on a one year deal.
b/c you have a chance to extend him if you already have the rights to him during the season.
Shark if a team like Indy gave up a 1st round pick for Richardson why wouldn't a team give up a 1st for Rak? Aren't pass rushers in more demand than RB's? I know Richardson is younger but someone might bite. He is gone either way so you my as well get something for the guy. Unless he is so dominant that we will need him to make a Super Bowl run.
Some team could over pay for a pass rusher for a half of season to get them in contention to the Super Bowl. Its possible.
If Rak has a good start to the season some team could trade for him. Why is that so hard to believe?
I think the Skins sealed Raks fate with the drafting of Murphy.

How can they pay Rak when you have RG3, Morris, and Kerrigan coming due? The guy is gone if he puts up 2 sacks or 20 sacks.
And I think that is one of the dumbest ideas in a long line of dumb ideas this team has had over the past few years. There is a reason why Murphy was available for us to draft in the second round when the entire league puts a premium on pass rushers right now. Its because he is NOT that good. If the Skins had not franchised Rak I would guarantee there is a team out there that would have given him the deal he wanted. And if the Skins thought Murphy is actually that good, why wouldnt they have rak on the trade block NOW??
And how do you come to the conclusion that he is not very good? I'm just curious how you can make that proclamation now before he has even had pads on. It can't be based on his college performance.
I have no idea if he is good or not. But if I was betting, I'd bet the odds are better that he will be good over being a bust. He is a physical freak who has a lot of room left to develop, both physically and technically. He also graduated from Stanford with honors. He has the brains. The only thing we don't know is does he have the drive. Given the right tutelage, the is no reason to think he can't be productive.
