You are assuming Love would give them a sweetheart deal. His new contract he WILL want a max deal.....you're going to have to dump a LOT of salary. I don't see that team as any better than what he has now.

You are assuming, I am going by what his contract is now. If he has James and Irving, you really think he won't want them to sign some more players. C'mon think outside the box man.

Love has bird rights and those would be traded with him... so the Cavs would be able to go over the cap to sign him to a max... something Gilbert would have no problem with if he gets LeBron

The West is awesome, but superstars equate with all time greats.

Do you really want to put Kevin Love in that class?
I think the fact that pretty much every team in the league has tried 2 find a way 2 make a deal 4 him has already put him in that category.

No chance they would put Thompson in a trade to get Love. Varajao would be the guy to move.

Well speculation and rumors is they offerered TT, Waiters, and Wiggins + draft picks. Plus, if they got Lebron he loves Varajeo. Now giving away that contract would be the smart move.

I don't think there's going to be a deal at all.

Minny has no real motivation to sell on pennies on the dollar. They'd want significantly more than what I've heard bandied about on these boards. There's no guarantee they can make a trade for Love.

There's a better chance they go into the season with the same roster they have right now. Minny may move Love before the trade deadline, but they will undoubtedly have better offers.

They are not selling for pennies if they get Wiggins. Any future picks, young players, etc. pale in comparison to Wiggins' value because he has legitimate star upside and the Wolves would be able to control him for 7 years. No other team with a realistic chance to resign Love can offer anything even close in value to that.

People are forgetting that Varejao is an expiring $10 million dollar contract... that's a nice piece for any to have.

In addition to LeBron's relationship with him, I could see that as a reason Cleveland wouldn't mind holding on to him. Its also a reason that he sweetens any potential trade.

Ok.
Then if it's a done deal...and you're getting on a plane for Brazil,
WHY NOT SIGN?
Oh I don't think it's a done deal...and neither does Love/Minny obviously. I'm not even sure why most think he would go back.

Because NBA teams value him, that makes him an all time great?

Really?

I disagree...the longer they take 2 move him the worse the deals are gonna get cuz other teams will know they'll be growing desperate so they can at least get something back rather than watch him walk away a F/A.

Varajeo?
He's always hurt.
He's leaving Wade to bank on Andy?

TT, whatever. Dime a dozen in the NBA.

And then, doesn't it take time to learn to play together?

Has Irving ever played without the ball in his hands?

It's just not a better situation right now as far as playing for titles.

Andy is hurt, he actually played more this last season than normally. But getting rid of that $10 mil makes the most sense.

Any team it will take time, that is a given. You have to put the pieces together first to even have a chance. First priority is to get Lebron, it would all fall together after that.

Wiggins trade value is very high.

The downside, of course, is the uncertainty.

The upside is the salary that comes with a brand new NBA player. Wiggins could turn out to be less of a player than expected... and still be a bargain, salary wise. If he's anything close to his ceiling... then he's an absolute steal throughout the length of his rookie contract and a game changer for the franchise.

Would he though?

That remains to be seen. Gilbert was one of the biggest proponents of the current system, specifically designed to prohibit this type of thing. Will he really go deep into the luxury tax when the time comes? I am not so sure.

They always have Haywood, whose conract also ends after this year and they were saying could clear cap too.
