Anybody who saw this guy play knows he's at least a 7th round. I thought he was a day two guy but apparently not. So my rams pick Sam at DE but pass on a guy who's ceiling is way higher at the same position.. Wtf

Jeffcoat has the same ceiling and no special attributes. Sam has a good rip move. Its a small bonus when comparing the two.

Dunno but I'm sure as hell glad he is a Seahawk now!

I disagree. Jeffcoat ran a 4.6! He can play both LB and DE. Sam will most likely not make the team whereas JJ will simply off athleticism alone.

Neither has a realistic shot of making the team. Both are practice squad guys.

We'll see. Obviously any player trying to make the rams cut at the DL is almost impossible at the point but I do believe that JJ will be the better player. I wanted this guy and was shocked nobody wanted him.

Right, obviously you didn't watch him play. Mack brown is the king at wasting talent and he's proof of that.

Apparently none of the NFL scouts did either then?

If he wasn't drafted at all, then the scouts thought he had very little talent that would translate to the NFL...or in other words, he wasn't very good.

The fact that no UT players were drafted at all this year is pretty damning evidence that justifies Mack Brown's firing.

Teams do weird stuff all the time in the later rounds. The Bengals used a pick on a WR who didn't catch a pass last year.

Again , we'll have to wait and see. Personally I think your thoughts on him(including the gm's) are wrong. I've watched him his whole career and wanted him at OU. Seahawks are probably a perfect landing spot for him.

I liked Jackson Jeffcoat. His ceiling though is pretty much as a career back up in my opinion. More of a rotational guy to fill in when the starter needs a bit of a break. Teams especially in the later rounds are wanting to take players who are more developmental that just maybe could develop into a quality starter. To me Jeffcoat has pretty much maximized his playing ability. He will get a bit better but not much and so teams were willing to pass on him.

There are plenty of guys who are signed as undrafted FA's that end up being solid NFL players. Won't be the first time scouts and GMs are wrong about a player. I was just relaying what they had to say about him.

Anyone else find it odd that an OU fan is backing a Texas player?

Lol hey! I can think objectively. I've always liked JJ and as a college football fan I can easily say he was better than many of DE's that were drafted late. I don't see how that's not a reasonable statement. The guy got hurt his sophomore year I think in the RRS and was out for the season. I have to think bc of his absence that most scouts somewhat wrote him off.

I can't believe he didn't go play for Dallas. He would have a much better shot at making the team here, and he's a Jeffcoat. :wtf:

Seems to me, they're both very similar players. Only thing I can surmise, is that Jeffcoat had an injury history (pectoral tears in 2011 and 2012) that, apparently, were still a point of contention.

They guys on Moving the Chains on NFL Sirius raved about this kid all of the time.

A headscratcher that he wasn't taken.

He was my favorite UDFA. The guy will have seen how to be a real pro football player from the age of 5. Agree that a couple years away from Mack Brown might make him into a passable rotation guy.
