Well deserved... That in combination to Earl Thomas' contract should make for an interesting cap situation in the years to follow. Especially with Russell Wilson's rookie contract only having 2 years left.

Holy guaranteed money. Can't see paying a corner that much.

CB's are becoming more valuable in today's pass happy NFL, and Sherman is the best CB in the NFL so he deserves to get paid the most.

Makes sense too because RB value is decreasing. You don't see too many RB's commanding top contracts anymore because most backfields are becoming committeed (if that's even a word?).

Yeah, but could you pick 3 better young players to throw money at and build around?

True they certainly could have done that but don't you want Sherman?

Salary Cap is going up the next 2 years. Signing Russell Wilson won't be a problem.

It is not a matter of if he deserved it. He is the best so he should be paid that way. The question now becomes for Seattle is can they still stay on top a year or two down the road when the cap becomes that much more difficult to navigate. They are going to lose quality players. Happens to all good teams. The Seahawks have a nice window to keep doing well but in a year or two that window closes and it all boils down to can they keep drafting well. If so then they stay near the top. If not look to Pittsburgh and the drop off they have had as they try to get the cap under control

I'm perfectly fine if we're able to field a Superbowl caliber team for the next two years. Given that we just won our FIRST Superbowl.

Hell, I said before this season that I'd settle for 10 years of losing seasons to finally feel what it's like to root for a Superbowl winning team. We did that, now we have a chance to do it for at least 2-3 more seasons. I'll take it, no matter what the cost of the 5 following years.

What fan wouldn't?

First of all, this was known. Seattle has been working with these 3 big contracts in mind. So its not unexpected. Now they just need to continue to draft well because they will have others they cant afford.

Second, Seattle GOT a ring, when Wilson, and Sherman were working on rookie deals. So even if this blows things up. Atleast they got their ring. Now im confident in JS and PC, because they found all these stars late. But they will continue to need to.....in order to have the epic depth that helped them win last year.

It's a wee bit on the pricey side for a CB but the issue will be potentially for the cap for Seattle since they now have 24 million tied up to two positions in the secondary.

It's not that he's undeserving of it but secondary is sorta like the offensive line in that it's effectiveness is more as a unit and not as just a single person.

The draft is really going to be paramount for Seattle going forward since RW will be up for big time money as well.

The 3 guys he is talking about are Thomas, Sherman, and Wilson. Yes it will be a lot of money but can you think of a better trio of young, proven players to extend and use that money on? Obviously without it becoming a rosterbation fantasy, that is.

True they are driven but we have seen what money can do to players once they get it. Not saying these 3 will turn out like that but there is a high percentage that they might.

There is a very slight percentage they might, there is a VERY large percentage they won't.

Hopefully that salary cap limit sky rockets these next couple of years the way the experts are expecting it to
