Not sure how this thread turned in to a "Is FSUManager a real fan or not" thread, but it seems some have a little different definition of "bandwagon" or "t-shirt" fan than I and some others do.

FSUManager clearly stated he has been an FSU fan for many years and has never wavered. By definition, that is the opposite of a bandwagon fan.

As for "t-shirt fan", if I understand that term correctly (it's kind of new to me), if he didn't disappear during FSU's down seasons, then he wouldn't fit that definition either.

Forgot to add something.

I RARELY start a thread about FSU or any other subject. I do however to respond in threads about FSU. I do talk about purdue during the football season. Did so this past season. I also talked about Navy this past season on here. But since you did not see it there is no way it could have happened right? Now that is the same type of stuff my 9 yr old throws out there.

I don't follow you around dippy on all your conversations. Quit acting like a tool and taking everything so literally.

The point is you primarily root and show your fandom for FSU. A school you have zero ties too. And its pretty obvious that you talk much less about the programs you actually attended. Are you really going to disagree to that ?

And to me, that is fucking Lame.

They are called "Sidewalk fans" in Alabama, and pretty much means you didn't go to the school. IMO, fuck people who think crap like that. I wonder if they even realize how much of the schools success is due to "sidewalk fans".

Just pathetic people looking for any way to put themselves above others.

This is B.S. college sports are about the kids. You can say he has no ties to a school but if it is a state university and he pays taxes, guess what he has ties because his money supports that school.

I was born and raised in Ohio, joined the Navy and got my degrees while away from home. Now I am back, so since I did not go to Ohio State does that mean I should not be a fan and I am "lame" if I hope around like a super fan when the Buckeyes do well?

Read the thread. I agree with you. FSUmanager says you don't have any ties. I say you do.

However, FSUManager has zero ties to FSU. He just roots for them because Navy and Purdue aren't as good.

By that definition, I'll bet over half of the fans in every stadium of every major school are "sidewalk" or "t-shirt" fans".

Not going to the school does not qualify someone as a t shirt fan.

Its when you just randomly pick a college team that is no where near you just because your local teams aren't that good.

ex. Some indiana kid lives by Purdue and doesn't like Notre Dame but since Purdue will never outshine Notre Dame he has to adopt some other team to carry his fragile ego

I disagree.

T-shirt fan
2. Anyone who claims they are a "fan" of a particular sports team, even though they had no prior support for/interest in the team until that team started winning. These types of fans usually wear t-shirts supporting a particular pro/college sports team even though they do not live in that city or did not go to that college. Plenty of these fans did not even go to college, and some are lucky to have past a 6th grade education.
After UT won the National Football Championship, many illegal immigrants from Mexico became a t-shirt fan.
Based on his post, he didn't like Notre Dame (who can blame him) and became an FSU fan long before he attended Purdue. Additionally, he attended Purdue for purely academic reasons (better program in his field than FSU had). Also, it seems that he was an FSU fan before joining the Navy.

Based on that, I don't see how that definition fits him.

Didn't you say one HAD to GO to send school to be a fan of said team?

it fits him because he had no ties to the university when he became a fan. Its that simple.

Everyone has the right to root for whoever they want.

Just like I have the right to think t - shirt fans like FSUManager are lame. Much in the same way that I think guys that wear skinny jeans are lame.

LMAO you cannot even get the simple things right.

I did not grow up close to Purdue. I grew up an hour from Notre Dame. I even posted that info. I grew up 3 hrs from Purdue. I attended Purdue for exactly 2 yrs to finish my degree.

I never said I did not like ND growing up. YOU assumed that. You also ASSUMED that I did not follow Purdue. Everything you have posted are assumptions. Never once did you ask me if I liked either team. I gave up that I followed Purdue in basketball, but that was all the info I gave.

When I was little I watched every ND game(family of ND fans) and even rooted for them. Never watched Purdue in football because my family watched ND games only. And they still only watch ND games only. With great passion I might add even though there has never been ANYONE in my family that attended ND. Only the proximity of an hour to ND is why they root for them, but they also root for IU in Basketball. Like many people in Indiana.

I never attended the Naval Academy. So there is that one. I only attended Purdue for ACADEMIC and FINANCIAL REASONS. Which I stated in this very thread. Is that difficult to understand? Must be for you, but it seems others caught it very quickly.

Nowhere in the definition that you linked, including #2 (the part that you specifically pointed out) does it say anything about "ties" to the school.

No my family has absolutely ZERO ties to any college. I am the ONLY 4 yr college graduate in the entire family. But keep on. Nobody is agreeing with you except 1 single person. But again keep on with your stubborn stance.
