I agree the money is out of wack. But I think we can contend for the division this year. I cant see how Hatcher could command that type of money. Again, we have to see how the deal is broken down.

Damn it I drive home, pick up dog food, and we fucking sign players.

GK please call Bruce and tell him he is SUPPOSED to wait until IM back at the computer to do shit like this. :D

All in all I like the move though. We are apparently getting semi serious about bringing some pressure on defense this year.

Its either coming, or the guy we signed from the texans will get a real shot at starting. The safety thing... we are all waiting for that one.

Sharpton is a good run stuffer at ILB. We are totally ignoring the safety position. Jimmy Ward in the draft looks promising and should be there at #34.

If Sharpton and riley are our starting ILBs, I could live with that... provided we get one really good safety in here by hook or crook. And we do need one more ILB for depth JUSSTT in case Robinson isnt quite ably to stay healthy.

I cant believe Clemons from the Dolphins is not on there radar. But Spenser from Dallas is in Washington. A backup OLB takes presentence over a starting S? I don't get it.

Wow...I hate that contract.

Also, he was unproductive throughout his career until last season when Dallas switched to a 4-3...aren't we a 3-4? He is 32...Phillip Daniels Jr except he's getting paid like JJ Watt. WTF are they thinking. OK...got overly dramatic to prove a point for a couple of people but seriously I hate this signing.

the longer this sits, the more I see Merriweather and Doughty back. Which im not totally against. If Merriweather is healthy and gets his head on straight, he is a good safety. Appears we are taking a front to back approach on the defense... stock up the line, get good to decent LBs and corners.. roll the dice a little at Safety. Dont matter if the safetys can cover for 7 seconds if the QB only has 3 seconds to throw the ball.

Lets see how the deal is structured first.

But as of right now we have

Coefield, Baker, Jenkins Neild, Hatcher, Bowen and Jumpy the 4th on roster for our D-line.

With Jumpy 4 and Baker, thats alot of beef keeping our pass rush LBs clean.

i dont like 4yrs 27.5 mil for a 32 yr old DL i doubt he sees the 4th year . . to me its too expensive forn a stop gap

i dont mind them signing a stop gap guy here or there but not at 27.5 mil

I've been seeing a lot of talk about us changing how the dl plays gaps which supposedly fits Hatcher and baker very well and makes finding exact scheme fits much easier. He is a good player. Let's wait abd see how the money works and stop complaining about getting better.

Terrible signing and sends the wrong message about our so called "plans". He is 32 years old and would not figure into the young, cheaper sign, build the roster of core players type move. I tell ya, Allen is all over the board and we have zero chance of contending this coming year or next so why sign this player to that type of money. Hell, give Jones that money or a little more since he is younger and would fit into the "plans".

How does it send a wrong message? Players want to win. We want to win. Getting somebody who helps us win is not a bad thing.

Calvin Watkins from ESPN says 7 or 8 teams were interested in Hatcher. I bet his contract will have little guaranteed money in the last year or two. A perfect stop gap guy bringing much needed pressure on the QB. We may be drafting a premier DE at #34 or next year in the 1st anyway.

I am still waiting for a safety to be signed. You guys are probably right. We may resign Merri and Reed to give the young guys some more time. If so, they better bring it this year. Old Brandon and Reed don't have too much more in em.

Brandon and reed are both SS in the box thumpers. Brandon has some coverage skills to him. reed does not. Like him as a true redskin, but we can NOT put him in situations outside his playing ability. Meaning little to no coverage responsibilities. So what we truely need from Rambo and Phil is one of them to step up and claim the FS spot.

For that money, why didn't we go after Arthur Jones?
