TO was the man. If every player shared his passion and desire for the game, there would be a lot more superstars in the NFL. He's right. Never got into off field trouble, and always came to play. Only reason the Eagles even had a chance in that SB vs. the Pats is because of TO.

He probably could come back. If Nate fucking Burelson has had a job the last few years why not TO, who a million times better?

If they won he was the hands down MVP. And he did it with screws in his ankle well before he should have been able to make it back. He's top 5 all time, right in any discussion with Moss and Jerry Rice.

TO was given a second chance.

And a third, and a forth and so on.

Yes, he can still play - it's the diva crap that teams just don't want to deal with.

That shit was all overblown. Same with Moss.

Most of both their reputations were unearned.

By all accounts, Randy Moss was a prototypical teammate and competitor. Hell, if he kept his mouth shut over the way the Titans (ab)used him, I'm sold!

It's tough for me to understand why someone desperate for publicity and ticket sales (like the Jaguars) hasn't brought T.O. in for one last shot. The fact that he has sat out the last three seasons probably means he's in better shape than the last season he played. I think he should have bulked up and gone in as a receiving TE.

Like I said, I'd give him a shot. He wouldn't start but he's got to be better depth than Austin collie.

T.O. in his prime > Jerry in his prime

How old are you?

Jerry Rice was a demon on cleats in his prime, his football speed was sick and he didn't have issues catching the ball like T.O.

The only logical reason is because he can't play anymore. The Seahawks receiving corp when TO was trying to make the team was less than great, the fact that he didn't make it there is proof he can't play in my book. In terms of ticket sales, TO might make a difference for a couple of weeks, but winning is the only real cure for abysmal ticket sales and a 40+ year old TO would not help a team like the Jags win anymore games.

Randy Moss is at the top and everyone else is debatable after that. That said, Jerry Rice would be very average playing against today's defenses. Physically, T.O. was vastly superior.

I really don't think you ever watched Jerry. Btw Deion Sanders is ranked top 5 DB's all time by most experts. Jerry Rice put up over a thousand yards on him when matched up. Yeah, he would probably be average against today's defenses. . haha wtf, Dumbest statement I've ever read on a message board.

There is no way that Moss or Owens are as good as Rice, let alone better. Moss was a sometimer and Owens was the same when securing the reception. You never knew if he'd drop it or catch it. At the end of his career he developed alligator arms.

If T.O. still has ''it'', he should simply go down to the clinic and get a shot to get rid of ''it''

Hammer,

Rice was a much better receiver than Owens. Yes, Owens had better physical traits, bigger and faster. But he also developed alligator arms and had more drops. Jerry Rice might be average against today's defenses, but so would so many of the stars of that decade and before. Today's players are bigger, stronger, faster. I believe you judge players against their peers.

As far as football speed, Bill Walsh talked about Rice's football speed quite a bit. Rice did not have good track speed. He did not do well in the 40 yard dash. That and coming from a small school were the reasons he was overlooked in the draft. Walsh has stated that while Rice didn't time well in the 40 yard dash, he had an incredible burst of speed. Walsh also stated he had never witnessed a player who could run like Rice while having his head turned back to look for the ball.

The issues with TO were not overblown. He became a locker room cancer on the 49ers. His public comments about Jeff Garcia were wrong. He had a tendency to throw his QBs under the bus with his public comments. While on the 49ers, he was a loner and did not get along with his teammates. There is a reason this guy could never stick with a team long term

You guys do realize that the only "changes" are in the trenches. OL and DL. Your best Linebackers in the 90's are probably the same size as the best today. When it comes to WR's and DB's nothing has changed when it comes to speed and size. Don't believe me? here's some validation on ESPN http://espn.go.com/espn/page2/story/_/id/6933214/tmq-mel-kiper-jr-size-increase-football-players. I would take Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson over any DB in the league. I'll also take Rice over any WR in the league(or ever). What separates Rice from everyone else was his work ethics in his private practices. It's well known that his workouts are something that no player could rival. His stats speak for themselves and it will take many years for his records to be broken.

I think Miami should sign TO as an offensive lineman - he would not have to catch the ball.....

That's the thing, at his best Moss was probably a better all-round WR than Rice, but Moss wasn't at his best a lot of the time.

Yeah, I never watched Jerry Rice. Every time they showed him, I looked away.

The only thing that would have made your post more juvenile is to end it with this smilie: :laugh3:

That's right. Moss and T.O. shined against exponentially better defenders. Jerry Rice in his prime might make the '15 Jaguars as a slot receiver.
