Put away your 49ers hate for a second, and take a look at pure numbers and what you saw through the course of the season and who you think was the better inside LB, first off I will say both LB's had a tremendous year and I have a lot of respect for Kuechly. The fact that Bowman wasn't even nominated is pretty ridiculous though.

Bowman Kuechly

Total/solo tackles 120 - 93

Assisted Tackles 25 - 63

Combined 145 - 156

Sacks 5 - 2

Passes defended 9 - 7

INT's 2 - 4

TD's 1 - 0

Forced fumbles 4 - 0

Fumbles recovered 2 - 0

I'm talking about overall. Clearly Willis was hurt.

Well yeah. Willis was the top LB for about 5 years running and is currently a top 5 LB

Hurt or not, Bowman is a better player at this point, imo. Youd have to get Niners fan to weigh in on that one, though (which is like half of SportsHoopla)

Cant argue with Bowman being snubbed in not even making the top 5.

Not surprised a Seahawk didnt win since two in the top 5 probably took votes from each other

I honestly thought Quinn would win and I am super shocked he was 4th.

Keuchly is an elite player and had a great year but he wouldnt have been my top choice.

My original vote went to Quinn but you have a really good point here for Bowman that I never really saw for DPOY

Bowman is a beast and had a better year Willis, 49ers fans would agree I think, but not sure he would be my DPOY. My vote would of went to Quinn, that guy was scarey good this year.

Bowman is a beast. I would take him over any LB in the league. Fuck the stats, when they need a play, he makes it.

I didn't want to admit Bowman was better than Willis last year, but it's hard for me to argue against him this year.

Bowman, Quinn, or Thomas. I think all 3 are about the only 3 who are truly deserving. I think Quinn personally should deserve it but you have to be ungodly like Cortez in order to get the award on an underachieving team.

I would say Bowman and Kuechly played different roles in their defense. Trying to compare numbers and say "see this guy is better because his numbers are better" is not looking at the big picture. One played in a 4-3 while the other played in a 3-4 just for starters.

Now I do agree Bowman should have been in the discussion but I don't disagree with Kuechly getting the award either. I wouldn't have been upset if any of the top 5 guys won it as this year above any other in recent memory was a tough one to make a clear choice. Last year was so easy with Watt just dominating like we haven't seen in a while but this year I think the list could have been 8 people long and all could have made a case for the award.

Luke gets a ton of assit tackles. It inflates his numbers big time.
