There's an article on ESPN that talks about which crew is going to get which championship game assignment and how many penalties each crew called this season. The Hawks vs. Niners will get Gene Steratore's crew, who called 210 penalties this year, which is middle of the pack. Steratore's crew called 29 coverage penalties (the high was 52 and the low was 19), 36 offensive holding penalties (high was 55, low was 23) and 25 unsportsmanlike penalties (high was 48, low was 18). So based on the numbers given in the article, how physical these two teams are (particularly against each other) and the notion that officials tend to let more things go in the playoffs than they do in the regular season, what kind of game do you guys think we're gonna get this weekend?
I don't think we'll see a ton of flags, but if the chippiness gets out of hand, we might see more unsportsmanlike penalties than usual.
