any coverage that puts reed doughty on andre johnson is a coaching error got nothing to do with reed doughty's talent

having both Rak and kerrigan in coverage on a 3rd and long and then not holding the team on 3rd down is a coaching error not a talent issue

not putting players in the best position to make plays is a coaching error not a talent issue

having your hole defense look lost like they did in week one is a coaching error despite watching 70 films on kelly , not a talent issue

having a defense full of lousy tacklers that take poor anlges is a coaching error not a talent issue using the right technique and being beat physically is a talent issue

not having your players communicate with each other properly is a coaching error not a talent issue

having players make undisciplined penalties at key times is a coaching issue not a talent issue

call BS all you want but i have seen this routinely during the haslett years

My take is, lets see where we go roster wise with the defense. I think they give Haslett th talent he needs and if we still suck, it wont be able to be blamed on the defense going forward.

there are all caused by hasletts passive style of 3/4 . i would rather see us get burned by being aggressive then lose by being meek

Actually the 49ers and Seahawks are pretty vanilla. They play man and their front 7 line up and kick your ass. It's not so much coaching as it is talent.

This game also shows why Griffin has to run ...... Then slide.

, russell gets 6 seconds to throw they get a 1st down pass which the wr breaks the tackle because of a poor angle and runs for the TD

then they go to the bench and blame the field position on poor special teams

That is not true Haslett blitzed many times. I don't love or hate Haslett and believed he would have been fired. You are assigning way too much importance to coaching. Why didn't Pete Carroll have better defenses when he was with the Jets.

a haslett coached skins team would have allowed a free release of the slot wr allowing him to get wide open down the seam giving up the td because no one accounted for the slot wr

what should be taken from that is in key situations poor play calling and coaching lead to us giving up tds instead of FGs

he doesnt make adjustments his team are poorly prepared , the routinely blow coverages fail to communicate and gets stuck calling passive defenses while misusing his best rushers

If you seriously think Haslett could run a zero coverage 5 man blitz with Hall and Wilson in man coverage over ANY team consistently, you are crazy. We dont have the talent to run the blitz package Seattle runs. We have NOT had that kind of talent on this team in 10 years or more. And the few times we have actually tried to run that, we have gotten our asses handed to us which is when you come in complaining about the talent level at the safety position.

Bottom line, I can admit we likely wont have a top ten defense with Haslett as DC. Why cant you admit that a HUGE part of the problem with the defense is we havent even had the talent to field a consistent 11-20 ranked defense over the past four years. We have been weak in the secondary for six years now.

I do think it is hilarious that you are using two the best defenses in the league to prove all your points. The 49ers have the best LBing core in the NFL and the Seahawks have the best defensive backfield in the league.

Sportster... the only way you fire Haslett is to keep Shanahan. Firing the entire coaching staff more often than not takes 4-5 years to recover from. Considering that RG3 has 2 years left on his deal, a purging would make us the Raiders west most likely. I was fine with the idea of firing Haslett right until they fired Shanahan. You have got to maintain some kind of consistency even if its mediocre consistency in a coaching change. Starting over in all phases of the game at the same time usually leads to failure. I know people will say well Philly and KC did ok. But for every Philly, there is a Washington, Buffalo and Oakland,

The reason things worked for KC, San Fran, Philly as opposed to Oakland, Washington, Buffalo and Cleveland is because those with good records had good players while those with bad records had bad players.

i feel gruden picked his staff i just think in key areas where we stunk he chose wrong . the o/line , the d/line and the DC were bad hires in my opinion

our defense was poorly coached

how do you gripe that rak and kerrigan are poor in coverage then turn around and use them in coverage more then any other 3/4 olbs ?

how do you let a secondary with bad talent always have to start with a leg down by not hitting receiver at the LOS ?

why dont you take your 2 best rushing assets and have them on the field rushing the passer at the same time ?

how many times did we watch a redskins defense look confused ? blow coverages ?

how hard is it to teach tackling techniques and taking proper angles ? you have a film room dont you ? this is the right angle, this is how you wrap your arms around a runner . this is how you use the sideline as a defender

geez i dont have a beef with our guys being beaten because they arent good players . i do have a beef with them not using proper techniques or even being in position to make plays . i do have a problem with them not being schooled enough to prevent blown coverages routinely or being taught communication

i would at least like a staff that could make halftime adjustments or adjust to their adjustments

if you have a poor secondary you have to get pressure where was b jenkins tapp rak and kerrigan on the field together ? werent we supposed to see that ? shouldnt we have seen that in passing situations ?

i am sorry but these are the things i see routinely in a haslett coached defense

i dont like his passive roll over meekly and play weakly defense

Well guys, I feel that the moment it was decided that the QB was more important than the coach and by extension the rest of the team, we screwed the pooch on this one. If the defense and special teams were really the problem, then thats where we should have begun to fix things. Now we just have to deal with it and hope they made the right call. Personally i think Gruden has a two year window. If this team isnt in serious playoffs contention then, I dont think Dan will just sit back and let this play out.
