There's only one -1- explanation I can come up with... Trestman and the Bears decided to tank the game / season. Otherwise, the decision (to kick a 47-yard FG on 2nd and 7) is unjustifiable... even a HS coach doesn't make that sort of monumental brain fart.

That aside, the ONLY silver-lining to this loss is the fact that the Bears weren't / aren't going anywhere in the playoffs anyhow, what with all the injuries to the Defense.

Oh well, wait til next year I suppose... what else is new when it comes to Chicago sports.

I would be fine with it, if they were in chip-shot range. 47 yards is nowhere near automatic, for ANY kicker. Add in the pressure of the situation...game-winner, on the road...it may as well have been a 57 yarder.


I want Trestman to succeed as much as the next Bears fan, but what happened yesterday was inexcusable. Bordering on fire-worthy IMO.

Forte was averaging 5.2 ypc on that drive. There was still 4 minutes on the clock, so there is a lack of preparation there, for all possibilities of the game, aka, he misses, and now you've given them the ball at midfield, with plenty of time left.

You will see better coaching in a 13 year olds living room on Madden 25.

It was that bad.

Gould is 72% from 40-49 for his career. Inside 40 that jumps to > 90%. Obviously, I was rooting for the Vikes and had already conceded the Bears the win the way they were moving the ball. I thought I'd lost track of the downs when Gould came in. I don't think I've never seen anything quite like it short of a last second play. Nobody leaves 2 downs on the table from 47 with that much time left. There was so much wrong with that decision it's hard to know where to start. 47 yards is simply way too long to just sit on it and assume your guy is going to make it.You were moving the ball fairly easily on the ground. If you miss it you give it back on the 37 to a team with an RB who's been shredding you all day and one of the best, if not the best, FG kicker in the league. There was nothing the least bit brave or smart about it. It may not have been as dumb as Schwartz's fake FG decision against the Steelers but it was more damaging.

Yup. Our D is pathetic...can't stop anybody. And twice, down the stretch, Trestman called plays as if our D was dominant. With 4 minutes left, they could a iced it, with ONE first down. Nice call on first down, Forte gains close to 8 on a stretch play. Good call. 2nd down, everyone in, run off tackle, stopped. 3rd down..same fucking play. Stopped. This is at midfield, mind you....stupefying. Ran maybe a minute off the clock.

Then the kick was just straight fucking retarded, and there is no excuse for it....and I don't give a fuck about his stupid explanation for it...it was DUMB.
