Trust me, I like being an underdog. Do any of you feel the Bengals deserve to be favorites over the New England Patriots? Really?.....

IDK it should be a good game i feel like cincy pulled a Baltimore and fell victim to a lesser team, but they will be ready to go for this game.

Anytime you're under a 2 point favorite at home it is basically a pick em.

And they also tend to play better at home. This Cincy team has 9-7 written all over them. I can tell they're going to be a 3 win road team but a 6 or 7 win home team.

If anything the Patriots should consider it a sign of respect. Homefield advantage for most teams is considered 3 points so in essence the Patriots are being shown as the better team even though this is a road game. My guess is if Gronk and Amendola were for sure going to play the Patriots would be actual favorites in this one.

I think for Cincinnati as well they are still living a little on off season hype that this team would really break out this year. So far that has not been seen but we shall see.

in CBS sports preseason preview of the Bengals, they wrote "The Bengals are for real. They have one of the best rosters in the NFL," and both analysts projected them to beat the Patriots and go 12-4 (they had them starting off at 3-1...Bengals are currently 2-2)

Tom Brady on the Bengals in the Boston Globe:

"They're loaded. That's why they have one of the best defenses in the league....They're good.... their offense and what they're able to do, they're explosive. We have to do our part as an offense to try and keep their offense off the field"

Andy Dalton is one of just three QBs to throw for at least 20 touchdowns in their first two seasons. The other two?
Peyton Manning and Dan Marino.

TE Tyler Eifert (Notre Dame) was one of the most surprising picks of the first round in April’s NFL Draft, but once it sunk in it made a ton of sense. The two tight end sets have become more and more en vogue ...
With (25 year old and 2-time Pro Bowl) TE Jermaine Gresham and Eifert, the Bengals will use multiple two-tight formations and use a variety of pre-snap alignments to set up mismatches in the secondary. Not too many defenses have the personnel to match up with a playmaking tight end, let alone two of them.

I find it a little surprising. NE seems to be playing better, while the Bengals offense could only score six points against Cleveland. I wouldn't take Cincinnati minus a couple of points. Obviously, that is no guarantee that NE covers.

Should be a good match up between Talib and Green. I saw the Bengals against Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago and I thought that Ike Taylor did a really good job against Green. Wouldn't be surprised for Talib to do the same.

Our offense is good and we have weapons, but Dalton is a bad quarterback. He is a product of the talent he has around him, and even so, much of our offensive talent goes squandered.

Our D is strong, but we have some injuries to the secondary right now that Cleveland was able to exploit. If you had Amendola and Gronk, I think it's a much different game for that reason. Brady will be able to carve the secondary we start in this game, but it will come down to whether NE WRs catch the ball.

I won't be shocked if Green doesn't have a good day. Green isn't easily shut down, as much as Dalton is afraid to throw the ball into tight windows. He's not a quarterback that will make a tough through or throw a WR open. If Talib doesn't let AJ get 2-3 yards of separation, he won't get many targets at all.

I know that that is a common criticism of Dalton. Seemed to me that it was descriptive of how he played against Pittsburgh, the only game I've seen him play this year. Taking advantage of AJ's play making ability is an important key to the Bengals offense.

For me in this game I am interested to see if the Bengals really challenge the Patriots up the middle with Wilfork out. There was a statistic the other day that on plays that he is in they have historically been a top 10 run defense and with plays where he is out they are dead last in the NFL so should be an interesting thing to see the rest of the season.

Seems like a good plan to try and take advantage of Wilfork's absence. That hasn't been a strength of the Bengals offense so far, so it could be interesting to see how much and how well they run.

One thing that may skew the stat. Most of the time Wilfork is off the field it has been a blatant passing situation, and the defensive calls have reflected that. The patriots have no issue giving up a 10 yard run on most third and 20s.

I've always been a big Patriots fans, as I love Brady, but come on guys... Cinci has the better team here don't you think? No Amendola or Gronk still, and Thompkins may be banged up as well? And the NE running game is now leaning on their third stringer Blount?

Cinci has a solid defense and and a young up and coming offense. AJ Green, Eifert, Gresham, Bernard...

And its not like NE has been crushing people this year

I don't honestly care who the favorite is. I think New England will demonstrate that even banged up they are a much better team, though.

That is the game I'm most excited for outside of the Hawks game. Its gonna be a fight with potential playoff implications. I absolutely what Giovanni Bernard brings to the table
