What Will It Take to Win the NFC East? - Hogs Haven

I thought at the beginning of the season that this division would be a dog fight down the stretch by the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins.

Now a quarter of the way in, it looks like delete Giants, insert Eagles. I actually think the Eagles have a good shot based on their schedule. All this pre-supposes health of course.

I agree with this article that, as it stands today, Dallas looks to have the best shot, as long as they play consistently. In our favor, this is not something Dallas tends to do. Maybe they change that this year, hope not.

Imo, Skins are definitly in the race, as long as we can turn the corner after quarter one of the season. The time is now! Starting with Dallas in week 6! This game is huge! In my mind, a must win. Critical win to compete in this weak division. From my perspective, wins this season HAVE to come from within the division with a few outside it.

Be interesting to return to this discussion at the half way mark. What do you all think?

Not to rain on any of your parades, but you barely beat a bad Raiders team without its starting QB. I think this division is pretty much Dallas' barring a complete turnaround from either of the Eagles, Giant or Redskins (because they all suck right now), or a complete collapse of Dallas, which even though they look like the team to beat in the East, still not all that good.

Dude, you're not raining on our parade, we know exactly what we have and where we are. Any grand illusions we had for this year, you guys busted in week 1. Having said that, this division is still wide open. Its very realistic that Dallas will be 2-3 after this week and we will be playing them the following week. If we can beat them (and while that's no given, it is possible), we will be tied for the division lead. Hell, you guys might be in there too if you can pull off a win in either the Meadowlands or in Tampa. That is by no means out of the question.

The fact is our division sucks and will probably be won with a record of 8-8. Any team at this point can win the division. Going further than the 1st playoff game is highly unlikely.

The dallas game is huge. If we win that game and assume dallas losses to Denver I think we are in good shape. The offense if going to get better. When that happens our defense should be better. Winning the division guarantees a home playoff game so you will never know what could happen.

The Dallas game is the turning point of our season. It is so huge right now. 9-7 is still a realistic possibility with losses from Denver, Bears, Falcons, and 49ers. I think the 9-7 record would be good enough to win the division. With some luck the Bears game is winnable at home.

Let's just take this one game at a time. A lot of this is also impossible to predict due to factors such as injuries (both to the NFC-E and the opponents they play outside the division) & a lack of motivation when some of these teams are completely out of the running (could include Redskins).

I am only stating this since I don't want to see any of us get our hopes up & then turn around & badmouth everyone on the team if they somehow fall short. For now - let's just focus on how the Redskins do against the Boys coming out of the bye.

Does it really matter at this point. Even if we do win the division, the NFC Champion will be either New Orleans or Seattle.

I do see that Tony Homo is ALREADY getting his excuses all lined up for when he singlehandedly blows another game though.

The Giants have to be kicking themselves over dumping Bradshaw, at this point due to their desire to throw 70 times with a terrible line, its between Dallas/Washington. All hating aside, we both have the most potential to improve offensively and defensively. The Eagles have peaked offensively and are dangerous but Vick, McCoy & Jackson are all bound to miss games. The Giants are going to have a great 1st round pick next year
