The media is a fickle bunch. In week 1 a lot of them touted the Seahawks as Super Bowl favorites. After the Niners beat GB and Kaep threw for over 400 yards, yeah, the Niners were CLEARLY the best team in the league. After the Niners got obliterated by Seattle, yep you guessed it, Seattle was the new clear cut Super Bowl favorite. Monday night, Denver vs Oakland: Jon Gruden was drooling all over the Broncos and made them out to be an almost untouchable team that would surely win the Super Bowl.

My point is, that sports media are a bunch of fucking hacks that nut ride any good team in order to boost ratings but they clearly don't know who the best team is. They prove it week after week. As of now, the Broncos are Super Bowl champions but that will change by Sunday afternoon and then again by Monday night.

Stay tuned...

LOL That's not too surprising, is it? Seems pretty obvious that no one knows who the "best team" is and that the whole notion of "best team" is rather Platonic anyway.

You know what, the "best team" is the one left standing with a Lombardi Trophy in February and come September, it's a clean slate again. Beyond that, it's just a bunch of noise. That being said, I like my teams chances but anything can and often does happen in this league.

Agree but not about Seattle...at least not yet. We have a lot of football left to play. Teams get better, teams suffer injuries, etc. as of now it looks like a Seattle/Denver Super Bowl. Hopefully that changes.

I have no problem saying that the SB winner is by definition the "best team", since it seems to me the most sensible definition of that term. Still, I realize that that definition will not always satisfy everyone.

The best team doesn't always win but that being said, the Super Bowl winner will go down in the record books as the best team that year.

History seems to suggest that it most likely will change. For example, I don't think that many people outside of Baltimore were predicting the Ravens to win it all after losing to the Eagles in Week 2 last year. And probably fewer still would have picked them after they lost four of five to close the regular season.

I certainly didn't predict them to win. They should've lost to the Broncos but things are very unpredictable. I thought the Niners would destroy them in the Super Bowl. I still think the NFL wanted Ray Ray to win it.

Like I said, anything can and often does happen in this league. One example people use often about the "best team" not winning the SB is the 07 Patriots. Obviously, that was a special team and season and the argument can be made that the better team lost but my take on it was that the Giants were just as good down the stretch and through the play-offs. That second to last game of the regular season, the Giants gave the Pats all they could handle. It could have went either way so it's really subjective. Hell, that 16-0 could have easily been 12 -4. The Colts game, Ravens and Eagles were a toss-up. Now, to give credit where it is due, the Pats found a way to win and that was one of the greatest seasons ever but I bet Patriot fans, players and coaches would have gladly traded those close games and the historical unbeaten for the hardware at the end.

I just find it hard to believe that someone would get upset over somebody else's opinion on who they think is the best team. It's just an opinion....it isn't that deep.

Listen, son, I'm not upset. I'm maybe a little annoyed that hack jobs think they know who the best team is at this point. The only thing I know, and I mean the only thing, is that the Colts aren't the best team in the league. :D

I know the Colts aren't the best team in the league, but with so much parity in today's NFL, I do know the Colts have the oppurtunity on any give Sunday to mop up and completely dominate a team that many of these so-called "experts" consider a Super Bowl contender in their own stadium.

You guys have a good team. Luck is the real deal. I was just messin' with ya. Good luck. Maybe with good luck we will see you guys later this year. :yahoo:

And the NFL wanted Jerome Bettis to win the SB too. Funny how that always seems to work out? Maybe the NFL will want Peyton Manning to win this year?

Well I certainly hope they do! It worked great when they wanted Elway to win the SB. I just can't figure out why they never wanted Dan Marino to win one.

They should've given Marino, Terrell Davis. He would've won two.
