I don't know if you all are like me but I pretty regularly rotate my defenses and kickers depending on the matchup. This week, for example, I added Buffalo as they have the Jets and added Henery as my Kicker (Tucker cost me the W last week). So if anyone out there is good at picking DST and kickers on a regular basis I'll be asking for your advice here because quite frankly I'm pretty crappy at it.

What DST or kickers that could be available do you like for week 3 and why?

Love the Vikings against the Browns and Hoyer. The Bills are also a great call against the Jets offense.

As far as kickers go...Hauschka seems like a good choice this week as any kicker would against the Jags.

And I also love the JETS this week......................they actually could be good all year long

And my shittiness at picking kickers continues...through 3 qts Henery with ZERO points. I'm bumping this thread next week to get some feedback earlier...Zurelein is not available FYI.

rookie K on Dolphins, forgot his name.
Dan Carpenter was a decent option at K for a few seasons when he played for MIA, and they have the type of offense that should equate to a lot of FG attempts, imo. They should be able to move the ball, but I don't see any redzone beasts when I look over their roster.

Good advice...wish I would've taken it earlier. For whatever reason, I'm brutal with picing kickers. I'll bump around wed of next week.

such good advice, i wished I would have taken it myself! caleb hannie looking like a legit K option for all of MIA's games going forward. picking him up in any league that I am not confident in my K for week 4. Hopefully the Josh Brown owners in my leagues arent reading this.......

As proven by the Bills this week, a bad defense is a bad defense, even when going up against a below average offense. The possible exception might be any defense facing Jacksonville this season, and even that isn't a given once Blackmon, Lewis, Shorts and MJD are all on the field together. So base your picks more on the defense's capabilities than on the potentially "bad" offense. Not knowing what's available is hard to give any solid advice, but a defense with playmakers on it will be better than a bad D going against a bad O almost any given week.
As far as kickers go, just stick with Henery until his bye. Then grab the best available kicker who has already had his.

For future, I'd refer to your own comment, and say that this probably isn't that great of a strategy for you. Spend the 9-11th round draft pick on an above average defense and go with it. If you don't feel exceptionally comfortable with your ability to pick quality streaming defenses, than don't do it anymore.

Question since most of you do online scoring... Did Cinci's fumble return for aTD count since technically it was a return on a Cinci fumble? I win if it counts, lose if it doesnt.

Counted in ESPN leagues, but it's up to each individual leagues scoring rules. I would guess most count it. Technically that play is defined in fantasy terms as an offensive fumble recovery by the defensive team. .same scoring category you'd need for a single player to score on a fumble recovery for the offense, but applied to the DST. Hope that helps

You'd have to read your league rules - but the notion in most places is that once a ball changes possession (either via turnover or kick), everybody on the field becomes part of their team's DST. (Which also explains why a TD pass on a fake field goal does not count as a TD for the DST.)

Week 4

Right now I have a claim for KC on DST as they seem to be pretty legit and have a favorable opponent (NYG).

Any suggestions for kickers. I have Henery right now. For the last two weeks, my kickers have netted exactly 3 points (Tucker 0 + Henery 3).

I've had Dan Bailey all season...so far he's scored me 33

Sturgis for Miami is averaging 11 pts in our league, but we have bonus pts for distance, and they are indoors at New Orleans this week. I am dropping Zuerlein, Rams offense couldn't get closr enough for a FG attempt, and later went for it on 4th down. I know he has a powerful leg, but if he is continually pacing the sidelines, his leg is worthless.

As for Defense, I too, put in a claim on KC, also Indy goes against the hapless Jaguars.

I have Baily also, and have had him the past 2 yrs. I always pair up my QB and Kicker, and for some reason it works, IDK why. As for def...I went Vikes and Bills....fail!!! This week, its KC or Indy or Cinn for me. I hope to land Cinn and keep them for the rest of the yr.

I know this belongs in WSIS, but I didn't want to start a thread... Which defense would you start this week out of Buccaneers & Ravens?

Bucs have ARI at home, and the Ravens are on the road in Buffalo. Both are pretty appealing! I'm leaning on the Bucs.

I'm leaning Ravens here. They held the high-powered Texans completely in check, and Buffalo's offense ain't Houston.

Cincy. San Fran is looking awfully suspect recently, and I'm not at all sold on Hoyer.
