At this point, I don't even care. All I want is Kiffin gone and some to rebuild this program.

If you are talking about Alabama I hope it is settled fair and reasonably. Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi State really received NO benefit from an Agent paying their players to leave the school and should receive little penalty. The same could have been said for USC years ago but its past, whats done is done.

theres some rumors floating around about jeff fisher. im 50-50 on him... its likely Tennessee will suffer another losing season and he could be axed...one of big things to me is if lane kiffin leaves who stays behind... ed orgeron is an excellent recruiter..i read a rumor that kennedy polamalu was let go because of a disagreement with lane kiffin...so regardless of who they bring in I want to see some of the assistants remain...

:agree: I'd like to see this handled in a fair manner!! I have no desire to see another program slammed unfairly just because we were!!

I'm with the OP, what's done is done. I want us to find a coach and start winning again.

Fisher would be a great replacement!! The Jack Del Rio and Chris Peterson rumors are warming up a bit too!! Any of the 3 would be excellent!!

For those on the "Fire Kiffin" bandwagon, be careful what you wish for. We need to make sure that whoever replaces him is better!!

We don't want a repeat of the Paul Hackett years!! Paul Hackett was our coach for 3 seasons. He had a record of 19-18 with a best of 8-5!!

Lane Kiffin has been at USC under the worst sanctions since SMU and after 3 seasons was 25-13 with a best of 10-2!!

Not saying that he shouldn't be replaced, especially if we don't start seeing some major improvements soon (like Saturday)!! Just saying that it's never quite so easy as simply firing a coach. You have to make sure you have the right coach in line to replace him and that you can actually get that coach!!

All the more reason that big schools / conferences should break away from the stranglehold of smaller institutions. It is not right that the small conferences / schools have the same vote as the larger institutions.

In so doing we can bring back the control of athletic dorms. Hell, bring back the tear away jerseys and this will drastically cut back on the horse collar calls. Let's break away and restore the manly sport of football. We could even have penalty flags reviewed.

Anyone who wants to see another team punished is not a real fan. I'm sure the NCAA will grow tired of Alabama and find something stupid to punish them for. The NCAA can't stand success!

Jeff Fisher used to coach the Tennessee Titans. He is now with the St. Louis Rams.

maybe im just an asshole always pointing a finger. fair is fair...if I get popped for a drinking and driving...and some other guy I know damn well is drunk gets stopped a then I expect him to get the same punishment I got. maybe a bad comparison but that's how I see it.. yeah maybe cases aren't exactly the same. I think a large percentage of usc, penn st or whoever else feels they were wronged by ncaa will feel outraged if Alabama comes out of this without any substantial sanctions.

I would hate to see any program hit like USC was. The kids that had a life long dream to play for USC weren't allowed, due to some punk ass decision in prior years.

The NZZA is a F-Up in their punishment stance. The guilty folks should suffer the consequences, not the future incoming classes.

After all is said and done with the issue of the SEC 5, I would hope the NZZA allows USC to take the full 85 ride in 2014

Get rid of Kiffin, get all of our scholarships back and hire a worthy coach. I have no desire to see another program get screwed by the fraudulent NCAA.

I completely understand how you feel and I would feel the same if we were talking about a governing body that was sane!! However, we are talking about the NCAA!!

While I agree that sometimes a rush to judgement is not a good thing, I don't think firing Kiffin falls into this category. There was a reason you guys were the pre-season #1 last year...mainly that many thought the talent was there to compete, and I'm not sure they were wrong.

The worst part of Kiffin is not the coaching though...he is like the Johnny Manziel of coaches off the field and the Mike Van Raaphorst on it...everything about him sucks, except his seems to recruit well...but I wonder how much is him and how much is other coaches.

While Fisher would be a better choice, I feel like he seems himself as an NFL coach, Del Rio didn't get it done in Jacksonville, but I'm not sure that there isn't more talent at USC, minus a few exceptions like MJD.

Regardless of who it is it will be a step up, Kiffin is the punchline to a bad joke...and unfortunately that joke is on USC at the moment.

Problem is, we've had worse (at least when it comes to winning)!! Paul Hackett was the USC coach for 3 years prior to Pete Carroll and went 19-18!! His best season was his first when we went 8-5!!

Kiffin was 25-13 after 3 years with a best of 10-2 and Kiffin has been coaching under the toughest sanctions since SMU!!

I have a question for you: After his first 2 seasons, USC was 18-7 (better than Pete Carroll's 1st 2), coming off of a 10-2 season and picked #1 in several polls!! Lane Kiffin was the coach for those seasons!! Absolutely no one was complaining about him after those 1st 2 seasons!!

Last season, the defense fell apart, USC finishes 7-6!! What, in your opinion, was the sudden change? How was it that under the same head coach, virtually the same team (minus 10 players as it was our 1st season with only 75), yet we have drastically different results?

If I were you I wouldn't be defending Kiffin. He has never proven that he has been a great head coach. Your 10 - 2 year included a complete drubbing by a very less talented team. He had one good win at Oregon and this is the only ranked team he has beaten in his entire career. Your best bet is to go back to some of these more proven guys from the NFL and see if they can repeat what Pete did.

Having seen similar things happen at Alabama during our time in the "coaching wilderness" I would have to say that Kiffin is not a leader and USC last year and this year are not a team....they were and are a collection of talented individuals.

Can you imagine a players-only meeting in the Pete Carroll era...at least one not orchestrated by Pete anyways. Or any of the shit that is going on with Marquise Lee...and Pete had some guys that could run circles around Lee in terms of ego and being outspoken.

Kiffin is like a manager or military commander that has to keep telling everyone that he is in charge...News Flash...if you have to tell people you are in charge, you're not.

As to why he did well at first...it takes a while for the inmates to realize they are in charge of the asylum...The program was running well enough under Carroll that even the proverbial monkey would take some time to fuck it up completely

Makes a certain amount of sense!! Even though I've defended him, I have to admit that Kiffin has a big, idiot mouth that he needs to keep shut and that he can be incredibly stubborn (not a good mix)!!

One thing that I will say re: the players only meeting!! According to the players, it was blown way out of proportion!! It was a group of players (basically the team leaders) who were simply discussing staying positive and continuing to work hard after the disappointing loss vs. Washington St.

There were actually a couple of similar meetings during the Pete Carroll era after a couple of disappointing losses (the loss to 41 point underdog Stanford, for example)!! I think the difference was that we didn't have twitter etc. for players to talk about them.

I think Kiffin may have just become a head coach too young and too fast!! I think he'll have the rest of the year to see if he can get it together and if he doesn't he'll be gone!!

Either way, as I've said before, I'm confident that Pat Haden will do the right thing for the program at the right time!!

Second post where you've said the NCAA doesn't like success. Still pulling that out of your ass, or do you want to support your statement? What interest would the NCAA have in penalizing success?
