Just curious what other people do.

We are marinating french cut lamb chops today to BBQ tomorrow. Parmesan gnocchi with raw mushrooms, nuts, truffle oil and a mushroom infusion. Home made humus and garlic dip for chips and veggies. Roasted beet salad with caramelized orange and arugula.

It helps when your wife did three years at the New York culinary institute....

I am in charge of the drinks and drugs....

A large variety of beer, Patron Margarita's, and some really good hash oil.

Nice, sounds like a great menu. We're cooking a nice chunk of prime rib in the oven, beer and fine spirits. I'm fond of very dry martinis for the kick-off.

If I could one day make a decent martini I would be proud. I am an utter failure at making them. They always taste horrible. I use 1/2 oz of vermouth (martini and ross extra dry) and 2/5 oz of bombay gin shaken in ice and then garnished with green olive. Never turns out as good as when I order them out. I don't know if I am using bad vermouth or what the problem is.

Someone told me to only use a few drops of vermouth rather than a half oz. Which I was going to try next. How do you do it?

Well, the problem seems to be an excess of vermouth, the brand you use is not the problem or the gin, I prefer Beefeater. To be frank, vermouth tastes like shit, so you need to use very little. I make the drink with only gin in the shaker, let it get very cold, shake it a few times to get it colder, and then pour in a pre-chilled martini glass. To chill the glass, fill with ice and vermouth and then when the condensation sets in, toss it out , the vermouth will cling to the sides of the glass. Then pour the drink from the shaker dressed with a couple of green olives and voilà, you have a true extra dry martini. Enjoy.

My God. Today I learned there are cretins living on both coasts. Here is how you make the perfect martini:

1) Use ONLY Hendrick's gin and Noilly Prat vermouth. This is very important.

2) Keep the shaker and the martini glass in the freezer. When ready, remove the shaker.

3) Insert six large ice cubes in the shaker (shaven or crushed iced leads to excessive melting/dilution).

4) Add 2 1/2 oz of gin and shake vigorously.

5) Remove martini glass from freezer and strain contents of shaker into glass.

6) Take your bottle of vermouth, keep the cap on, and wave it above the martini glass in a circular motion while saying the word "vermouth" (if you want it extremely dry, refrain from saying the word vermouth).

7) Garnish with two jalapeno stuffed olives.

8) Profit!!!

*Note I didn't quantify it as a gin martini. Only savages make martinis with vodka.

Sandwiches, wings, tater wedges.

I get fresh-baked hoagies rolls, add thick-cut roast beef and dill swiss cheese, toast in a toaster over then add onion, tomato, gourmet mustard, mayo. Nothing better!

As for food, since it's a late game, I've already got a 7lb pork shoulder soaking in my top secret marinade. I'll be getting up at 5 am to get that puppy started in my smoker. I've got a friend who makes home-made barbeque sauce of various levels of heat, who will be bringing that. I get my buns from a local baker because they are large enough to make a big sandwich, but don't get soggy from all the grease and sauces. I normally hate commercial products, but I really like Famous Dave's Signature Spicy Pickle Chips. I'll be grilling corn on the cob, as well. My friends will be bringing various munchies and side dishes.

Okay, I might get ripped for this one but I make about 3 pans of my world famous lasagna and a couple of my taco pizzas with fresh toppings lettuce, onion, avocado, tomato, cheese and some hot sauce my mother in law makes (shes an older mexican gal that can cook like crazy) and obviously there will be some good snacks, summer sausage, cheese and crackers, celery with philly cheese and garlic powder, regular potato chips with a onion soup and sour cream dip and obviously pretzels & cheese. And a shit ton of cold beers. Just my opinion but martini's and football go together like beach volleyball and Antarctica but I like the hash oil idea, not sure the wifes family will however...

I got my medical license about two months ago and I am like a kid in a candy store. They have this ultra refined hash oil which is kind of like paste until you apply light heat to it and then it liquefies. We put in an electronic cigarette vaporizer and it lasts like a week before you need to fill it again.

LOL, me too sonny. My bong has been outcast to the garage. but i got a vap pen and a full size vape... You have to get some of the ultra refined hash oil for the vape pen... its awesome and lasts a long long time without refill.
