Rams Sportshoopla NFL 2013 Game

OK, thought of many ways to do this and each would have worked. I chose this because of the many ways a player can go and each player would be different. I hope a few of you would want to play, I think each of us could win and I believe bragging rights could be the order of the day. Here is the game.

There are 17 weeks in the NFL season.

Each player will pick 5 winners each week straight up, no spread.

Pick road winner +3

Pick home winner +1

Pick road loser -3

Pick home loser -1

If a player goes easy just betting on a home team and wins each, at the end he would have +85

If a player goes hard and picks all road winners and wins each, at the end he would have +255

So you can see how you can get ahead or fall behind quickly depending on your boldness.

Also able to make up points after a poor start with bold picks.

All 5 picks must be on the week game site by Wednesday to cover all games Thursday through Monday.

Miss a week first time -5, second time-10 third time your done, you probably suck anyway.

Sounds fun Blue, I'd like to play however will need to make some early pick in late Oct/early Nov as I plan to be out of the country.

Thats a very peculiar point system. I actually think everyone's strategy would end up very similar but I could be surprised

I'll play, are rules up for conversation though? I'd like to let picks go into Thursday but that's about my only complaint. Also if I agree to never pick a Thursday game could I have into the weekend? I hate those Thursday games more than anything else the NFL has done.

Sounds like fun, but I think the points should be like this:

Pick road winner +3

Pick home winner +1

Pick road loser -1

Pick home loser -3

Reason being, in the NFL, the home team wins about 60% of the time, so picking a road team and losing should have less penalty than picking a home team and losing.

All is good and all is open for discussion. I don't have a problem dropping the Thursday night game if that is what everyone wants and waiting for Sunday morning for picks. Also the pick home and away loser makes sense and we can do that also. Keep the changes coming in but remember I am a old fart so keep it sorta simple so my brain don't freeze. Cool lets do it.

If you pick all road teams with +3 for W and -1 for L and hit 40% you will finish the season with 51 points.

If we skip that game then picks need to be in by 15 minutes before the first game either Saturday or Sunday or 15 minutes before the first game on Thanksgiving. A Week One Pick thread will be started for all the picks. If you are out of town a week or two, those picks will be on that thread and will be transfered on to the next weeks thread as you like. A separate thread for standings will also be on the site. Need more guys, the more the better, retro, hammer, everyone that thinks themselves an expert.

Well there are no Saturday games this season and plenty of Thursday night games. I say the picks should be in 15 minutes before Thursdays game for Thursday only and then 15 minutes before Sundays game for both Sunday and Monday's games. I know it's a bit more work however a lot can happen between Wed (Or Thur) and Sunday's game such as injuries and suspensions. I was in a pick 'em contest and that worked well for us. Just some thoughts on my end.

I'm game but have a question...do we all pick all of the weeks games and take 5 winners from there? What if you don't have 5 winners?..or do we all pick from the same 5 games...sorry I'm the guy that needs to be told how to play Gin everytime I play it....lol
