2000 - Josh Heupel (lost to Chris Weinke by 76 points)
2008 - Colt McCoy (lost to Sam Bradford by 122 points)
2003 - Larry Fitzgerald (lost to Jason White by 128 points)
2002 - Brad Banks (lost to Carson Palmer by 233 points)
2007 - Darren McFadden (lost to Tim Tebow by 254 points)
2011 - Andrew Luck (lost to RG3 by 271 points)
2012 - Manti Te'o (lost to Johnny Manziel by 323 points)

I thought Adrian Peterson deserved it over Matt Leinart. Toby was my 2nd pick.

That's tough, I wanna say Mcfadden, but the I wanna say Luck, or AP. I can't choose.

I hate that Richardson was our best running back ever, but was unfortunate enough to be the same group with RG3 and Luck.

In my full blown bias, Mike Vick over Ron Dayne.

Yeah but McFadden had Tebow to compete with, no chance.

Luck had RG3, who was ridiculous.

But AP had Leinart, who had Bush to help him out. That is why I went with AP

He wasn't first runner-up, but the answer is Russell Wilson. If I had more time, i'd write a ten page screed about it.

Russell Wilson: 225-309, 72.8%, 3,175 Yards, 10.3 YPA, 33 TDs, 4 Ints., 191.8 QB Rating
Vince Young: 212-325, 65.2%, 3,036 Yards, 9.3 YPA, 26 TDs, 10 INTs, 163.9 QB Rating

Yes, Young had 500 more rushing yards going into the bowl game. He also played in a much more up-tempo conference with worse defenses (in fact, his worst outing of year by far was against a B1G team). Wilson led a Wisconsin team that scored more points per drive.

And for the clutch thing, Russell Wilson's splits when his team is down 1-7:
40-55, 606 Yards, 11.7 YPA, 11.02 YPA, 6 TDs, 1 INT., 197.6 QB Rating.

Russell's numbers stack up favorably against anybody. He had the highest QB Rating ever. He led one of the most efficient teams ever. He came up huge in big moments, and his only losses were because of mistakes beyond his control.

Last year, the argument people used was that "If Russell was really better than Luck, why isn't he projected to get drafted until the middle rounds?"

Well, now it is my turn to say that everyone loses that argument too:

Russell Wilson had the greatest rookie season for a quarterback in NFL history.

It's time that America and people on this site admit they made a huge mistake. The fact that Russell was not even a finalist is the most mind-boggling omission in Heisman history. He deserves respect as the greatest runner-up in Heisman history.

 ^^ no

Wilson was ok at NCST. Had a great final year at Wisconsin where he wasnt burdened with school and was able to study film.

Also to add...
What he did in the NFL means dick to this discussion.

Oh, and I also like

in fact, his worst outing of year by far was against a B1G team

Like saying he played the Hoosiers or something and was terrible.

They played the team that ended up finishing #4 in the country at the end of the year with a great defense - and oh yea - It was at their house with a hostile environment, early in the season.

But I guess Russell Wilson knows how easy it is to win at the Shoe..

1. Russell took business school classes his semester at Wisconsin
2. I bring up pro statistics because the argument people made against Wilson, which is that he had elite teammates. Throughout 2011, the common narrative was "sure his stats are good, but when he doesn't have an elite supporting cast he will struggle." Well guess what....he didn't struggle.
3. I was at that game at The Shoe, and Russell was the best player on the field by a mile. He put up a 160 QB Rating (very close to Young's average on the season) when nobody was getting open. Nick Toon was injured most of the game, and that team had no WR depth. Abby was double teamed pretty much the entire game. And the running game was completely shut down because we had a banged up line.
4. The OSU point was just part of the simple logic that it is harder to put up big numbers is a run-first, defense-based conference than a pass-first, offense based conference. I didn't realize that would be overly controversial.
