Indy has Houston twice. Who knows when the Steelers get Ben back. All the Bengals can do is play well. Everything else will take care of itself. Gotta give Zimmer credit, I don't think the D has much talent after the front 4 but I think Zimmer is getting the best out of his personnel...which is all you can ask for out of a coach.

If Indy reaches 10 wins and beats KC, they have the tie-breaker (common games) against us no matter how you slice it.

If they don't beat KC, assuming conference records are tied (common games will be tied), then it goes to Strength of Victory and that could play out different in a number of ways.

agreed. But any way you cut it if you dont get 6 you're putting the game on the D. So why not go for the win? The Bengals approach on that last possesion was so conservative that they were pretty much conceeding 4 points to run some clock. If I was rooting for the Chargers I would've appreciated that approach.

I agree. I was calling going for 6. Just a general mention that the defense was lights out.

You'd think that Marv would've learned that being strategically aggresive pays off. Going for it on 4th and 9 paid off. The fake punts have paid off. He just needs to keep that mindset. When he goes into 'play not to lose' mode bad things happen.

So did Baltimore lay down?

What the hell happened?

I didn't see the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had gone into play-not-to-lose mode seeing Ben not playing.

Pittsburgh also did a helluva job eating up the clock.

gotta give the Steelers credit. That's why I never count them out. I hate those fuckers but they are a mentally resilient bunch.

Also, so glad we get to watch the Eagles again in primetime. Can't get enough of that Nick Foles. He might be the most exciting player in the NFL. Why don't they just make both Steelers/Ravens game Sunday night games? They're always great games and just bloodbaths. I think the Ravens are losing their physicality, though.

1) They overcame three turnovers
2) They won on the left coast
3) Instead of finding a way to lose a must win game, they found a way to win

All in all a good day.

During the entire game I was pissed. Kept muttering "this is another game that we have no business losing but we will." Years of conditioning had made me come to that premature conclusion.

Fact is...yesterday was a game that the Bengals simply don't win. But they did. In spite of themselves. Bodes well going forward.

I see some people bitching how this is just delaying the inevitable, and lowering our draft pick.

Even, just even if we go 9-7 and miss the playoffs altogether, that is better than HALF the teams in the NFL, AND for the first time in more than a couple decades, we have had back to back winning seasons with a young QB who is being hailed as a can't miss bust by some of our resident pessimists.

I for one, want to see us make the playoffs, even if we are one and done again, but if not, I will settle for 9-7 to get one more monkey off our back since Dalton and Green arrived.

In reality, it's the karma I am creating by picking them to lose every week. In that spirit, next Sunday: Dallas 31, Bengs 20

Now you just blew your karma by announcing your true intentions. So you may as well pick them to win now if you want, you already jinxed the hell out of them.

1) The only person complaining about the lower draft pick is Kramer. So the fact that you even make mention of that is sad.

2) The only person hailing Dalton as "can't miss bust" is again Kramer. And again, the fact that you even make mention of it is sad.

But I get it, you were setting yourself up for that homeristic post.

And only a true homer would look at a 9-7 record and missing the playoffs as a victory. That's the worst of every world. At least Hobson gets paid for it, you don't.

From 2003-2006, we had two 8-8 seasons followed by 11-5 and another 8-8. Color me not big on winning 1 more game than an 8-8 and still not making the playoffs. That's one moral victory too big for me.

My kids told me Sunday that the Bengals were a "bad guy" team and that I needed to find a new favorite team. Maybe they are on to something.

You were also complaining about lowering our draft pick and said you would rather us lose all the rest of our games not a week and a half ago. You were also saying we were screwed to having Dalton for the next 10 years so you obviously don't think he is very good. You fit the bill perfectly.
