Does anyone think he gets a september call up?

No, there's no place for him on the 40 man unless someone hits the 60 day DL between now and then
More like next september
Agree... more likely any 60 day DL guy is going to get turned into a pitcher.
Perhaps another way to get to see Profar this year might be to DFA Gonzalez and install Profar as your UIF. If TEX did that in late August he'd be playoff eligible ... and since Sept games don't count toward the 45 day limit ... even if he was on the post season roster his rookie status would be protected.
i would like this
Except you have to remember you're starting his clock by doing so and we have Elvis through at least 2014. He doesn't need to come up here and sit. He needs to play every day.

I read somewhere, where 2 guys were discussing service time, that service time is dependent on how many service clocks are started and what % of time he and others spends on the ML roster, it was a confusing conversation on an already confusing topic
That said, totally forgot about Gonzalez being an obvious victim
But why start his clock at all, even slightly early? its not like he's really going to play, as all his positions are covered by people that aren't exactly struggling
I was suprised by the Gonzalez DFA i thought it would be Kirkman
Kirkman has options ... Gonzalez doesn't. And in any case you wouldn't DFA a pitcher for a prospect position player you are elevating to be a super UIF.
You need to clear a 40man roster spot. Most logical candidate is a guy you aren't going to renew for 2013 anyway.

No sense having a conversation about him if we are going to consider service time as the overriding consideration.
I would give him 1 start a week at SS and 2 starts a week at 2b (with Kinsler DH'ing one of those days and the other totally off) plus one day DH. In September ... would make it 2 a week for both SS and 2b.
What I am trying to create is enough work for Profar to get him the extra position spot on the post season..

Here's dialog on service time from MLB Trade Rumors ... Profar doesn't even make the list so there is no good time in 2012 to elevate him. But I'd rather start his clock if we can get him into the lineup over PADMY a couple of times a week.

why make it a 3rd?
Because I relish beating dead horses. (Example: YT)
Don't worry, I'm actually with you on beating this Wash/Young in the lineup horse
Me too.
Remember when you didn't want me poor mouthing ( "don't start that again") MY at the beginning of the season? Welcome aboard.
At the beginning of the season MY was producing and fresh of damn near winning a batting title.
No a 25 man spot, Lowe was on the 15 day DL, so he, Kirkman and Gonzalez were all already on the 40 man roster
This should leave 39 men on the the 40 man roster
