I'm ok with not handing out big contracts, so long as the focus remains on the future.

I did find this:

But, I really don't know too much about Marner, so opinions may vary.
If there was a way we could land Drissital(sp) I'd be all for that. Dude has been better than McDavid IMO.

Latest mock draft from Pronman:

He has Hagens going 8th:

Jake O'Brien

Commentary
Like Nashville, I somewhat expect the Flyers to take a center, and the options start getting more limited here. James Hagens is possible here, although it would give them a rather small core. McQueen is possible too. O'Brien makes a lot of sense though and people in the league think this is a possible landing spot for him as well.

He's been my hunch for the Flyers for a while. Fits the center w/ size need. If they want a playmaker to go with Michkov, he fits that. There was some smoke around the Flyers talking to Jay McKee about the coaching gig and he was O'Brien's coach in Brantford this year. I think that was just Briere using his relationship with McKee to get more info on O'Brien. Then he was one of the guys they took to dinner at the combine.

I guess in the press conference yesterday too they kinda went back on their statement that the top 6 was where you wanted to be in the draft and now they've grown that list a little bit. Would fit if they think O'Brien is in that tier now. Seems likely they have Martin in that tier too.

If I were a gambling man, I'd bet they take O'Brien if Desnoyers isn't available. Assuming Misa/Schaefer are gone which I think is pretty much guaranteed.

Bottom line is that the Flyers are desperate for a 1 and 2 Center. O'Brien is the 5th or 6th Center but still projects to a top line player. May not be the sexiest pick but probably a solid pick. If Desnoyers, Frondell or Hagens is there, I think you take one of them. Then McQueen will be there but I can't see taking the risk with the number 6 pick. Lastly, if Utah really wants Martone, there are definitely enough assets to move to the 4th pick and have more options.

I agree with taking Hagens if he is there at 6. Im not worried about his size. We have so may assets to make trades or draft to get bigger and tougher up front as the only really bad contract that we have that nobody wants is Couts.

I'd be cool with an O'Brien pick. I think he fits the home run swing thing a bit too. High hockey IQ, great playmaker, good 2 way guy. Pretty good skater. Seems like he needs to add some weight/strength, but knows it. Plus he's pretty young for the draft year, just turned 18 this week. Then it will just come down to playing faster and more assertively. Frost never really got over that hump and plateaued as a 2C/3C offense-only guy. But if O'Brien can get over that hump, sounds like he could be a 1/2C that brings a lot of offense. Especially if he plays with someone like Michkov.

Totally on board with that choice if that's where they go. If Desnoyers is still there at 6, I'd probably take him first. Feels like he's more of a 'get to the scoring areas' guy in addition to being better defensively. I think what Michkov really needs is a high IQ guy that gets to the front of the net and he'll essentially make an offensive weapon out of whoever it is.

Should have a pretty good option at 6 though regardless.

If wed like to get bigger and stronger up front lets take a page out of back to back Stanley cup champs and trade for the other Tkachuck brother Brady. Even more important we need to get bigger and stronger on defense as we have 3 tiny defenseman .Danny B has to address the defense first IMO.

Panthers make two-in-a-row burying the Oilers for Lord Stanley's Cup and that is the end of this season.

To me the only well spent money in the entire NHL was the money spent by the Florida Panthers.

They're a juggernaut right now, now question. And if some of those guys give hometown discounts to keep the band together they're going to stay that way. 19M with Ekblad, Bennett, and Marchand hitting UFA. Interesting team to watch this summer.

But even without a couple of those guys, they're going to be real good again next year.

I think they will sign one of the 2. Either Bennett or Marchand whichever one is cheaper. Ekblad is very replaceable especially at 19 million.
