I don't disagree with Mr. Lyons. Civil servants should be able to do their jobs without fear of violence.

I sure hope this guy doesn't have a boss that has directly stirred up violence and threats against police officers, the media, judges, FBI agents, attorneys, election officials, protesters non-violently exercising free speech, political opponents, and immigrants fleeing drug dealers and war. Because if he did, that sure would be super fucking hypocritical.

I agree. Sadly a lot of this is in response to CA stating they didn’t want the national guard there.

Like I said Todd can eat dicks.

Math is hard.

Not only should it not be hard to add 1.6 and 3, but the CBO says the budget bill will increase debt by $3 trillion, not save $1.6 trillion.

And the tariffs situation is unknown, so the taxes raised from that over 10 years are completely mythical. Even if we take those $3 trillion from tariffs as good, this budget bill is a wash at best.

At this point, I'm all for some kind of balanced budget amendment. At least then instead of pushing everything down the road, legislators would be forced to talk about taxes and program spending in a mutually agreed on framework. When someone is attacked for a position, you would have to propose an alternative. We're going to cut taxes and increase spending and not touch programs that make up 3/4 of the budget is living in fantasyland.

Americans aren't doing any better. Financial literacy is terrible. Subprime auto loans just hit an all-time high. People don't save enough, they overleverage themselves, and the whole thing is stupid. It not only reflects how dumb a lot of country is, but also the financing on ridiculous terms that people are able to get that is barely regulated is ridiculous. Stop ordering delivery for a fast food meal for $30. Stop paying $8 every day for a drink that is practically free (coffee). Stop buying cars and houses you can't afford. Americans have little cash savings and tons of debt.

You can't have both of these situations at once. It's a fucking disaster waiting to happen.

Essentially the tariffs are a VAT (value added tax) or like we call it here in Canada, GST (goods and services tax). It is why the 10% is non-negotiable. It is just easier to sell it to his base as a fee to other countries when it is them who has to pay it.
