The Giants called up Tristan Beck from Triple-A. Could be depth if Kyle Harrison is the choice for the open spot in rotation. No announcement there yet.

Tristan Beck has been throwing the ball well with Sacramento, posting a 3.24 ERA in 15 outings. He has pitched exclusively out of the bullpen. This could be a nice opportunity for him to carve out a role with the club.

Carney going to be activated tomorrow. What's the move?

DFA Wade?
Send Koss down?
Farm out Matos?

Can’t really send Matos down today. Not a good message to send.

Wade to IL is a strong possibility.

Koss optioned is the likeliest, though. We don’t need ANOTHER mid infielder with Chasey on the roster.

Agreed this is the most likely move.

I'm wondering how likely Buster is to do either of these:
1. Trade JV -- quite a few AL teams need a SP. He'd have to come back and pitch well.
2. Trade Chappy -- NYY and a couple of other AL teams need a 3b. We have Chasey who is a very good defender.

Neither, IMO is very likely but worth exploring if we could bring back a decent bat. Getting out from under Chappy's contract makes some sense.

I would be SHOCKED if Chappy were traded. He is the heart and soul of the team. Sure, he likely isn’t part of the next championship team, but he puts fannys in the seats and sets the clubhouse culture.

The fuck are you talking about with Chapman? He's worth every penny, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of him and his role here. He's the cornerstone of the team (and one of the best hitters).

Chap is not moving. I could see Koss going down and Posey look for a trade partner for Wade.

I don’t think Chapman will get traded either but I wouldn’t call him one of the best hitters. His value is in his glove work and he puts in some extra value with his power but his on base work leaves something to be desired.

He has the 2nd highest OPS and OPS+ on the team behind Ramos. He’s for sure one of our best hitters.

Wow, I hadn’t looked at OPS in a couple of weeks. I knew Lee and Yaz have been struggling but didn’t know by that much!
Chapman gets a lot of walks his OBP is good and he has power. He’s a good hitter especially for 3B

I'm not advocating for trading him. All I'm saying is that he'd have value if they want to get off of his contract. Unlike our record contract dude to his left.

Why would anyone want to get off that contract? Again, fundamental misunderstanding of him
