Well they ain't going out like the Maple Leafs, at least
Need a better finish though.Home team tomorrow needs a start like this.
A MUCH better one…Need a better finish though.
Why didnt the Canes fans boo and cuss out their team after such disappointment?
Because they aren't like shitty Toronto fans is my guess.
This is what they are going with:
They had a good debate on this incident on the radio this morning. Maurice has always been a little "holier than thou" and Im agreeing this is more of that. Just because he feels coaches and staff shaking hands with the players is taking attention away from the players doesnt mean others should feel the same way and that others shouldnt continue the tradition of congratulating the other side. This is what they are going with:

I don't mind the fans booing when the Leafs lay two giant eggs in games 5 and 7 by identical 6-1 scores. The tossing of jerseys and other debris on the ice though reflects badly on the fanbase.
During the game, sure whatever...even up until they start shaking hands maybe ok. But when your team raises their sticks to the crowd for the final salute of the season? Nope your shitty people and fans no matter what excuse you want to give.
I didn't care for that much either. Not that this is an excuse (maybe more of an explanation), but there's almost 60 years of pent-up frustration with the Leafs and the fans are just looking for some kind of release. Maybe a few Leafs players are also looking for some kind of release![]()
I kind of get where Paul is coming from, and maybe I would feel different if I wasn't in a development league but I think it's important as coaches to go through the line and express appreciation for players on the other team. Especially if any in particular really stood out. My kid once got a major compliment from an opposing coach and it meant a lot to him because it was a powerhouse program and a well known coach. They had a good debate on this incident on the radio this morning. Brind'Amour got through losing yet another ECF and Maurice wants to tell him there on the spot "hey dont shake the players hands" ... like fuck off.
Brind'Amour has already looked like he was tweaking out all series long dealing with what the Pans have been throwing at his team and he hasnt been able to get them to play up and respond to the challenge ... and now hes presented with "hey ... dont shake their hands" wtf???![]()
Maybe Maurice could have had a quick chat before it came to the end of the series to agree on what they were doing here.
/on the radio they were saying Maurice is taking a shot at Jon Cooper with this idea that coaches who want to shake hands are attention whores lol
i get it as well but honestly I don't think he has the right to ask Rod to do that as well. If the other coach wants to get in there and pay respects (and drop a little tampering at the same time) I think they should do it without feeling the way Paul doesI kind of get where Paul is coming from, and maybe I would feel different if I wasn't in a development league but I think it's important as coaches to go through the line and express appreciation for players on the other team.
