Canes ain’t scoring 5 goals in the 3rd…

They look unlikely to score 5 goals in this series.

You love him if he plays for your team...

The Canes need their Max Talbot moment and the Panthers are smart enough to not give in.

As big a meathead Tkachuk is, he is not as big of meatheads as the likes of Dan Carcillo.

It's funny you bring up Max Talbot, when I look at the Canes, I see some very good players, but I don't see any real superstars. To win in the playoffs, you need difference makers and/or a goalie who can step up and sometimes steal a game or two. When I look at the Canes, I see neither. I mean, they only had three more points than the Flames during the regular season (the Panthers only had two more points, to be fair).

The Oilers have two big difference makers in #97 and #29. The Stars have Rantanen plus Otter between the pipes (and getting Miro back on defense makes a world of difference). The Panthers have Bob in goal plus Barkov and Tkachuk and Bennett stepping up in the playoffs.

The Canes don't have difference makers or a goalie who can steal a game or two. And that's why they're 0-14 in the ECF.

Exactly. They rely on a bunch of "pretty good players" but no one that can own a game. You can even argue they don't have that role player that magically stands out (IE>.. Talbot) when needed during the playoffs. Great system team that could work in international style tournaments but not in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

They were banking on Rantanen to be that player but that failed miserably due to their system. If and only if they adjusted for him and he stayed. We wouldn't be seeing Dallas in the WCF and this ECF series might actually have been 2-0 Canes or at worst 1-1.

To go along with what is mentioned above, if the Canes get swept do you think they move on from Brindamour?

Seems his system just can't get them to the next level, even though his teams consistently make the playoffs. Is that good enough or should they look for a change?

I wonder if Carolina first tries to take a page out of the Bill Zito book and make a big trade just to get a little more snarl on the Hurricanes. The Tkachuk trade has worked out very well for Florida, I think the Hurricanes need to change some personnel in their dressing room.

Their top players don't really have grease in their game (minus Svech when he gets mad and wants to slap someone). And their players with some grease just aren't good enough to keep up. They need to bridge that gap.

FLA has Tkachuk, Ekblad, Bennett, etc. They cover both ends of it.
