The problem with Yaz is that he has stretches where he doesn't look like he could succeed in low A ball. I expect that stretch to hit at some point in the next month or so.
And yet career 120 OPS+ is pretty good

Maybe they decided to get it out of their system early instead of late?
I like the way you’re thinking.

Good game tonight fellas. I enjoy the Giants series cause I get a chance to check in. This is a board that seems to have a high baseball IQ so it’s fun to catch your perspective on games.

All are welcome to pull up a stool and enjoy a cold one here.

As long as they realize this is a Giants bar…

Very nice win, good to see Adames and Ramos start to hit.

Just saw that LWJ has an OBP of .491 and a batting average of .109. That's some quirky shit.

Obviously, JHL is washed up now.

Going to be interesting to see if Roupp can hold onto the rotation spot. Bird is really throwing well.

Rest of the series:

JV v Luzardo
Ray v Nola
Hicks v Sanchez

All three of those Philth pitchers are throwing well.

Is the Phillies board lacking there? Cedrique seems to know his stuff

Hate to argue with you, but Wade's OBP is only .208, his OPS is .491

He has more walks (6) than hits (5)

The concerning thing is he is COOLING OFF.

For the season his slash line is .109/.208/.283/.491

In the last seven (7) games his slash line is .053/.250/.105/.355

Among qualified players, Wade is tied for second worst BA with Spencer Steer. The worst BA in baseball belongs to our old friend and forever Giants, Joc.

I took a sabbatical in the summer of 2023 and toured all the baseball stadiums I had not been to yet, 17 of them. One of them was in Philly. Nice park. I stayed midtown, so walked over and took the light rail to the stadium. Had some pleasant interactions with fans, even though I was wearing Giants' gear. (Probably helped that the Phillies weren't playing the Giants.) I remember commenting to the guys next to me that Harper only had 4 homers (this was the end of July). That used to be a normal WEEK for him. Memorable trip, was glad for the hospitality.

Way too soon to throw Hicks out. JV is gonna get a lot of rope. Roupp could be the guy but he battled and I thought pitched pretty well considering the game situation and park
Not throwing Hicks out. Saying he’s a better long term starter than the 3 above as of today. I hope I am wrong, but I still expect Hicks to fade come June and on. JV should get a decent amount of rope. It he’s had zero good starts (one average one). I get it, just stating my thoughts.

Yeah I think Birdsong and the team know that you never have all 5 opening starters just go 30 starts each. Birdsong will get starts this year no question.

Sometimes but like the NBA board, just one thread for the season
This place has stayed pretty active, we all got here in 2010 so all the winning locked us in LOL

Speaking of Cedrique, he was active with us in cal's "top 30 players ever" threads on the MLB main page, that's how I know he knows his shit. How come you didn't participate? It was really fun discussions with all baseball nerds who knew their stuff, I learned a lot about players from the past, changed some perceptions, etc.
