Heard today that Cam Robinson and Tyron Smith are both looking for money that no one is willing to pay. The commentator thinks that Smith's agent will most likely talk him down by this weekend. He was saying that thy both think the same. "If a team is that desperate for a LT, then I'm their guy and they're going to have to pay big time for me to sign." Then he said, "I think that they better look at the calendar and the team cap space. Nobody is paying big money for a ten game player or one that doesn't have a good practice history."
Robinson signed earlier today with the Texans. Signed a 1-year deal worth $12 million with incentives that can take it up to $14.5 million.

Guess this guy hadn't heard anything. Looks like Robinson got close to what he wanted, which was $15M.

ESPNs Jeremy Fowler reports LB Jack Gibbens to #Patriots on a one-year deal. Gibbens had 167 tackles over three seasons in Tennessee, reuniting with Mike Vrabel.

The Athletic’s Chad Graff reports WR Stefon Diggs is meeting with the Patriots on Wednesday.
Diggs is in Foxboro to meet with the Patriots, who could use help at wide receiver. Prior to tearing his ACL in Week 8, Diggs caught 47 passes for 497 yards and three touchdowns for the Texans. The 31-year-old was a Pro-Bowler and 1,000-yard receiver all four seasons with the Bills prior to being dealt to the Texans. He has had a dry free agency market thus far as he heads into his age-32 season with uncertainty around his health for Week 1. The Patriots have missed out on Chris Godwin and others at the wide receiver position this offseason. Adding Diggs would give Drake Maye a reliable target, even if it takes a few games for Diggs to return and get into rhythm with the offense.

I would love to see Cam for fair money on an incentive based contract. That would really open up the draft.

That is a lot of money. I did not think he would get half of that contract.
Unfortunately, NE has to overspend to get players now a days. Personally, I didn't want him. Maybe the ACL injury will humble him a little? That and Vrabel won't put up with his antics. I can see him getting his guaranteed $ and shown the door. Either he'll underperform or he'll be a cancer.

But, it certainly gives NE so many options at #4 now.

$69M / 3 = $23M

$69M - $28M (Guaranteed paid up front) = $41M / 3 = $13.7M

3% Agent fee = $2.07M (Paid up front)

No one gets a signing bonus anymore unless they're signing for less than $5M

Diggs blew the doors off in 2020 and has caught 1000+ yards for 6 years in row until 2024. He was on schedule to hit 1054 when he was injured.
At that time he had 496 yards on 47 catches.

Right now it appears that he will be playing in the first game of the season. If he can produce and catch 75 for 800 yards, that would be very good coming back from an ACL. IMO anything more is a bonus.

I had to laugh at myself.

I read it twice and both times I thought you meant we have a whole room full of #4 receivers!!! One of those once you see it one way you cannot unsee it.

Third times a charm.

Multifaceted desperation.

Kraft desperately wants to shed the "Cheap" label.
Wolfe desperately wants to keep his job so he is not going the BB route with no FA activity.
The Pats have such a lack of talent at so many positions that they do have to overpay to bring in anybody that is worth...anything.

I'm actually ok with the signing. I didn't want them to sign Tet or Hunter. Hopefully this leads them not to.
As much as I don't think they should use #4 on a LT, I would rather that.

The Patriots reportedly agreed to terms with free agent Stefon Diggs on a three-year deal worth $69 million, with $26 million guaranteed.

I don't think it's $26 mil up front. It's $26 mil guaranteed with the other $43 mil in incentives.

Per WEEI, NE is signing Stephon Diggs 3yr 69M with 28M guaranteed.

Coming off ACL surgery... Typical Patriots signing... Though this is basically a one year deal, no?

Could this be good? Yes, am I jumping up with joy and excitement.... Not really... 3-4 years ago I would have been

Agree. Probably a one, max two year deal. Depending how much his annual salary is, this could be a decent signing. Hopefully he and Polk can keep their mouths shut and ball out.

I think this is the bigger issue. I'm not too worried about him coming off an ACL injury. He won't be 100% most of this upcoming season but still good enough to be an impact player. It is more what he does to locker rooms and young QB's. Every team he has been on has been more than happy to ship him out of town and all of them have improved the second he left. I think he is one that puts a lot of pressure on QB's to target him even if it means hurting the offense overall. Teammates also don't seem to talk highly of him overall so I just don't think this is a good move locker room wise for a young team trying to rebuild.
