The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia believes the Bills won’t “fully commit” to Dalton Kincaid as a full time starter with Dawson Knox in the fold.

Judging from the team’s tight end usage during the first day of training camp, Buscaglia said “those expecting Kincaid to usurp the full-time role from Dawson Knox this year and push the veteran tight end into a backup may have their hopes dashed.” Kincaid’s usage and target share took a dip when Knox was healthy and active in 2023. Kincaid saw an average of five targets per game when Knox was in Buffalo’s lineup; he had 7.7 targets per game when Knox was out with injury. Kincaid’s yards per game spiked by 22 yards per game with Knox out in 2023. Knox’s presence could prevent Kincaid from posting elite numbers this season.

Saints coach Dennis Allen said Kendre Miller (hamstring) “needs to figure out how to stay healthy.”

I thought the other quote was even more blunt -
“It’s hard to make the team when you’re in the training room all the time.”

Not much beating around the bush or 'coachspeak' to either of those.

Does seem like an indicator he wont make the team. But with things like PUP and the new IR rules, would they cut him outright?

It's hard to argue either quote - I own his sorry-ass in 2 dynasty leagues so I hope he figures it out. The table was/is set for him to be #2 this yr (since Jamaal sucked last yr) IF he can - But it's awfully hard to make your case if you're always in the medical tent. He may be another to wear the 'IF ONLY' banner. .... this is likely a defining yr for him.

This is writer speak, not coach speak but I'm calling fiction. Knox and Kincaid will both be used in the offense. The guys on the outside will get what's left.

Agree. Think these guys are reading way too much into who takes the field or reps in camp.

Meanwhile Knox is the most added dynasty player. Probably.
