Cepeda was the first of a series of guys who immediately became superstars once trade from the Giants. Felipe and Matty Alou, George Foster, Gaylord Perry, Dave Kingman, Garry Maddox, Gary Mathews, I know I'm missing a few

Most of Cepeda's good years were with the Giants but he did have some good ones after the trade as well.

Cepeda was traded for Ray Sadecki in May of 1966 and in 1967 was the unanimous winner of the NL MVP award with St Louis and led them to a World Series title that year

How does that contradict my statement?
It doesn't. Just pointing out that his best season came right after he was traded from the Giants which is what I was pointing out originally: That in those days, the ticket to success in MLB was to get traded by the Giants and I ran off a litany of examples,

Not sure why you would think I was contradicting your statement
