"Something negative" is fine. The shit Tubbs spews aren't facts and he tries to pass them off like they are.

And how is MY opinions that I am disappointed in the 40 shit I am spewing. If you don't like my fucking opinion, go back to your board and don't read it. No one asked you or your other boy to come here and get all pissy. It's a Bengals board and I don't give 2 shits what people from other teams think about my opinion.

You are really focusing on the wrong part of the first two links and the other two are....well forums..... Try and stop a stopwatch at 0.2 second...for real. He ran a 4.49, not a 4.8, ha ha. Do you care to mention any of his other combine numbers?

Apparently he had great lower body strength..... We can't comment on his bench press as he decided not to do it. I'm getting bored of prospects ducking out of drills they have been doing their entire life. It's not like the bench press is an unfamiliar workout for a guy that has played football his whole life.

I'm with you cincygrad. The combine becomes more and more pointless when nobody wants to do the drills. These guys think they'll look better if they do it at home at their pro day, but if I were a scout, I'd be leery of a guy who, barring a known injury like Richardson, just didn't want to try. There is no reason for Jeffery to decide not to run the 40 time. To me it says, I'm not very fast, and I don't want anybody to know it. Luck and RGIII not throwing was stupid. Wilson ran the 40 and all the other drills, so there's no reason his injury stops him from doing JUST the benchpress.

It screams to me that Wilson has been training, and doesn't like his bench numbers, so he'll spend the next few weeks working on it so he can post a number that isn't really indicative of what he really can do, and as a scout, I'd take that into consideration

Wait....how can a number that you actually post on a bench in front of scouts not be indicative of what you can actually bench? Honest question?

The guys are basically inflating their numbers by doing different work-outs at different times. Look at a player like Alshon Jeffery. The guy has dropped all kinds of weight - Probably so that he would be faster for the combine. However, is he really going to play at that weight? What will it do to his strength?

OOps..... I assumed Jeffery came in that light so he could run fast..... I guess it hasn't helped as he sat out the 40!

Let's say he's been working out, and as of the combine, maxed out at 15 reps. Now, he skips the bench at the combine, works out like crazy for two weeks, and at his pro day maxes out at 25. Afterward, he has no reason to keep up that kind of work on his arms. 15 to 18 is his real number, not the 25 he worked to. It's a false number.

Jeffery is in the same boat. I assume he dropped the weight, and still wasn't fast, so he'll work specifically on that, and post an artificial 40 time that isn't indicative of his actual speed. I wouldn't draft him.

How would this scenario be any different from if he were to start 'working out like crazy' 2 weeks before the combine? Same principal.

There are reasons for not doing drills at the combine. If you dont think you are at your full potential then skip a drill. Its definitely the smart thing to do. Zach Brown expected to run the 40 in 4.40 or better - i dont think he would have expected that had he not done it before. He ran it in 4.5. Everyone already thought he was a freak athlete who is really fast, now the only thing that time does is lower his stock because he is not as fast as everyone thought. Im not sure about the situation Wilson was in, but if people expect him to reach a certain number there is no reason for him to risk not getting it, because getting it wouldnt really benefit him.

It's no surprise these guys are opting out of drills that could literally cost them millions of dollars. Everyone gets way to caught up in combine numbers than viewing actual tape and game ability now. If RGIII is going to be the 2nd QB taken, why risk anything by throwing? He's not going to be above Luck on any draft board so there is no reason to even risk it. Same goes for Blackmon, who didn't run a 40. I'm not saying I agree with it, but I can understand why these guys don't want to take those risks.

And FWIW, 9 of 30 RBs (including Miller) didn't bench

Then why didn't he prepare for 2 weeks before the combine??
