Herbert got the bag.

His next big win will be his first.
why the Watson deal is not so bad.....at least if he plays well. Who cares if it's 100% guaranteed since if he plays well he'll be underpaid within a year or 2.

If he's not good? Of course that's a major issue but that would be true even if he was guaranteed 50%.

Nah it is pretty bad. The guy who is least deserving of having the contract fully guaranteed Is actually the guy who got the contract fully guaranteed.

That's fine but the Browns don't (and shouldn't) really care about deserving. If he plays as hoped and plays out his full deal as is he wont be top 5 highest paid...maybe not even top 7-8 or more.

I don’t blame them. Some franchises need to do that in order to attract talent on the open market. Back in the early 2010s when the Nationals were a punch line they paid Jayson Werth 7 years and 126 million which seemed nuts at the time but that’s what that franchise had to do in order to sign someone in free agency. They had to do something no other team was willing to do.

Sorry but thinking that comparing Werth to a guy who was viewed as an elite QB a bit absurd.

Never mind FAs seem as willing to come here in the NFL as anywhere.....and we don't seem to overpay any more than others.

It's an interesting situation for them. They apparently have been playing pretty well of late, so they kind of had to keep him to see what they can do.

Also a chance for him to hit 50-60 home runs in an Angels uni. They can market that and fill their stadium.

On the other hand, it seems likely that Arte Moreno will end being the guy who let him walk for nothing instead of the guy who traded him away.

If you remember correctly the Browns had been dismissed from the bidding until they were the only ones to step up with a fully guaranteed deal. Let’s be honest. Cleveland has a reputation for being the place that QB careers go to die.

I can't imagine anyone is offering the multiple prospects the Angels would want for a several month rental.
