Inside The NBA had a stat that I think since the Mitchell era, the Jazz have been 4th in regular season wins, behind Milwaukee and 2 other teams.

Yet in the playoffs, their record is much worse than those other 4 teams.

Not a good moment for my friend @clintonite33, since Mitchell responded to him, and not Checketts, who reported the news, but clintonite33 did say thanks to Mitchell for clarifying.

The Jazz are reportedly not asking for any compensation for Snyder as he still is under contract with the Jazz. I think this sucks because all the players were worried about being traded, because “this is a business” and we are stockpiling draft picks. We trade away two second round picks to get a protected first round pick that may end up being second round pick anyway and two players that were pretty good for us. But this? Nah, we don’t need anything.

So you don't want the Jazz to get a 2nd round pick for losing Snyder?

I’m not sure I understand. On the radio said they would not try to get compensation. I think that they should either get compensation wherever they can, or they need to stop with the making players worried about leaving and then just saying it’s business when they go. We give up all those dra picks to get a conditional draft pick that may be a second round anyway from the Lakers.

Yet, when we can get something for Snyder, we are being a gentleman and not pursuing it. it’s basically a slap in the face for the player’s families. Of course, they can play better to be indispensable, but it’s also even the players that are not traded they had to accept the reality that they could be because of business, but then we decide that we don’t want to pursue a contractual swap.

Yes, I don’t feel bad for the players so much because they get paid and while the families also benefit from that money, I do feel bad for them to have to uproot their family. Because either way they’re going to be paid that money, so leaving is a negative, it’s not a free agent decision, so it’s not good for the wives and kids unless of course that area’s bad for them and sometimes that can be bad for Utah.

Teams typically do receive compensation for releasing someone from their contract early.

The Warriors sent a 2nd round pick to Milwaukee for making Don Nelson their general manager.

The Heat got two 2nd round picks for letting Orlando be the head coach for Stan Van Gundy.

The Celtics got a first round pick for letting Glenn Rivers be the coach for the Clippers.

So yes, the Jazz could have and should have gotten compensation for Snyder, once he took the Atlanta job.

It's weird seeing Snyder coach the Atlanta Hawks.

It would have been less weird seeing Jerry Sloan coach Shaquille O'Neal in gymnastics.
