What do you expect Congress to do specifically to Daniel Snyder? They don't have any power over him. As I've already explained the committee is doing exactly what we want them to do. Keep the story going and keep the spotlight on Daniel Snyder. To create more smoke, smoke the other owners are tired of.
Yeah, its really about the other owners. The only real thing congress could do to the NFL is take away their extremely friendly anti-trust exemption and that would effect much more than a single dickhead owner.

And that would mean they can do something . So it goes back to will they ? If they have no intention of that then it’s a waste of time

Good to see you brother! I hope all is well.

I agree. I was disappointed that Congress did not bring up the allegations of Snyder cooking the books. Perhaps they will if Dan testifies? You would have to think that Dan is stalling until the mid-terms. If he does testify, he will plead the 5th or lie through his teeth. I am not sure he does even need to take the 5th. This is a congressional hearing, not a trial right?

Any lawyers experts?

Although I would have liked a QB instead of Young who would the pick have been? Tua had injury issues, Herbert was not seen as a sure thing by most. All that said Young has underperformed to the max. Hindsight is 20/20 .... of course I would have loved to have had Herbert now.

Even more .... I would have liked to see Cousins still here. I think if he was still here the past two years would have been 9 win years.
First of all, I agree with everything you have said. The Cousins take is spot on.

Looking back, yes, Hebert would have been the correct pick. I advocated for a trade back as I was not sold on Young. He disappeared in big games. Your Penn St. Lions shut him down if I recall right?

I am guessing that RR told Dan he would need a year to see what he had. That being said, we all knew that the QB position was unstable from the get-go of his tenure. Smith almost had his leg amputated and Haskins was erratic. I guess RR thought he would give Haskins a year and then regroup. He cut him mid-season. Last year, RR tried to trade for Jared Goff and Matt Stafford. He couldn't get either. After the Russ Wilson strikeout occurred, RR and Mayhew had enough and went after Wentz.

My concern was when RR took the job. He should have brought a GM with him like Andy Reid did. He did not. He built the plane as he flew it which is never a good idea. I asked a good friend who is a Panthers fan about RR and his front office experience. He advised me that RR was the coach and had no front-office position. Their GM ran the show.

Once hired, it appears Kyle Smith was an assistant GM of sorts, other than that, Rivera did what he wanted to do. Smith was either told to leave or chose to do so after 1 year under RR. He did wise up last year and brought in Mayhew, however, I get the impression he is more of a "yes man". I think ultimately it will be RR front office dealings, and not his coaching that gets him the boot.

Then that is his only course of action if he does show up in person or via zoom.

Will his lack of testimony be enough for the owners to finally move against him?

Perhaps but taking the 5th doesn’t mean you are guilty and it’s not supposed to be used as implying guilt either

That is true but it can also be used to sway an audience and portray guilt.

I am thinking of when F. Lee Bailey and Johnny Cochran peppered Mark Fuhrman with questions during the Simpson trial. Once he pled the 5th, they continued to hammer him with additional questions. When he continued to plead the 5th, the jury took this to mean that he was hiding something and or guilty. That was when they won the case IMO.

Young had 3 sacks against Penn State in his last game against them. He can still be a good DE but he needs to learn technique. It isn't like college where you can just beat a player on athleticism.

Haskins was GM Snyder's pick. It got Gruden fired and he lasted half a year until RR told Dan he couldn't help the kid. Sadly, we all know now how bad things were with Haskins.

I know you advocate for a GM. I agree but Dan has never had one other than Kyle Smith unless you count Vinny or Bruce and at that I think Smith was an assistant. No way he was staying after ragging on Dan about Haskins. The Marty's are just like RR picking up all the ex-Panthers. He wants people that agree with him.

You are assuming quite a bit here.

Multiple fans on this board have said otherwise.

DarrellGreenFan and I have said Snyder is the main cause.

Skinsdad has stated that the name change is giving him pause.

Sty has indicated that he is confused and finds his loyalty in question due to Snyder and RR.

None of us mentioned team success. PLEASE correct me if I am wrong Sty, Skinsdad, and DarrellGreenFan. I apologize if I am misspeaking.

You continue to absolve Snyder of causing the fan exodus.

Im having this same convo with my boy,
He flipped out that i gave props to the Ravens front office, and said skins will never be good with snyder as owner.
He's flipping out saying Bruce allen set us back and Ron has done a great job changing the culture...im like with a 14-19 record??? Oops

I didn't know that about Young. I am SEC guy and don't know a lot about the Big 10. I thought Young had some stinkers against elite talent.

Yes, you are correct. In MY dream Commanders scenario, the following would happen. After Synder sells of course..LOL

1. Owner hires a GM to run the show.
2. GM hires the coach. GM runs the front office.
3. Owner signs checks and stays out of the way.

Sort of like the 80s Redskins although Beathard lost the battle between HC Gibbs and GM.

To finish my thought above Charley Casserly was hired as GM. Love Charley, George Allen hired him but he was not Beathard.

Apparently you didn't notice the fact that Alex Smith sucked before he was injured

He didnt suck. He wasnt a superstar but he was serviceable and could win with him. We would of made the playoffs that year if the leg injury didn't happen. That injury set this franchise back. The RG3 injury set this franchise back. Duke, wants to know why we weren't successful in the last 17 years. These two things come to mind.

He sucked and led the league by a large margin in short passes. He rarely took shots and then struggled to score 17 pts a game. For a "game manager" he had 6 turnovers in 10 games so he wasn't even that.

He never was the answer, he was an average rag armed QB who 2 contending teams decided wasn't good enough.

TH sucked. Alex Smith was serviceable. Grudens offenses never had deep shots. It was the short passing game and efficacy. Again, I didn't say he was the answer, but he would have been good enough to get us in the playoffs.

If they are investigating it one would expect they can do something otherwise why waste taxpayer money and time on this ? Now I know fake impeachments and shit are par for the course and debunked Russian collusion fiascos and J6 committees are vogue but at least they had the power do actually do something

Personally as much as I want Danny to be gone , I can’t see the expense being used on this if they have no authority on this

It has already been explained to you why this investigation is a good thing and very important if we want Snyder out. No Congress will not remove the anti-trust exemption, they will never get the votes. But they can keep the pressure on and create yet more smoke. Are you actually aware of how many of these things Congress does on a weekly basis? If you looked into it you would see how often they "waste tax payers money". Few were making that claim when Congress investigated Deflate Gate or steroids in baseball. While it may appear as if this is all to get Snyder there is some truth that this investigation can lead to legislation that will offer better protection in the work place for everyone. I don't consider that a waste of time and money.

But it's not the GOP mantra today, then feel any investigation is a waste of time and money. Did you say that about all the Benghazi investigations? How much time and money was spent on that and what exactly did that turn up? I'll wait. How about Bill's impeachment hearings? This was all for lying about a blow job. You feel that an attack on our United States Capital by a gang of thugs in a desperate attempt to keep their guy in power is not worthy of an investigation as you have just shown. Clearly that was more serious than a President lying about having sex. So there is no reasoning with people who think this way and I don't expect that to change with you.

This is true. Dan Snyder is not on trial, it's all about perception. And ducking a subpoena with a BS excuse, then taking the 5th is a bad look and that's exactly what we want.
