Got a feeling Ron just wants a sevicable vet at MLB so he can go Wilson/Olave at 11 and Ridder at 47.

add sauce and it upgrades pretty well . the dean thing is we are giving up on BSJ after one year

Sauce wont be there at #11. Stingley will be. I can not believe we will pass on Lloyd at #11 or a trade down. If Willis is there at #11 we should get a decent return on a trade down.

This team needs a QB desperately, if Willis is sitting there when 11 comes up, they won't pass on him. The ONLY way that a trade down works for them are if the trading partner(s) are 12, 13, 14 or 15 (Vikes, Browns, Ravens, Dolphins) and hope that there's not some other team trying to move up for Willis.

yea you have to draft him if he is there unless you get a massive draft haul

Astounding that 2 - 4 guys only had 44 pressures and a 5.9% win rate .

I agree with taking him if he's sitting there at 11, however, in order to get that draft haul you're going to have to move much farther back in the draft, probably into the 22 to 32 drafting slots. This is a bad move for a team needing a QB. IMO, the better move down is a more forward-thinking one that drops them down a few spots, picks up a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and hopefully, their drafting partner has another position in mind other than QB and gives them a chance to still draft him.

At this point you have to wonder what the plan really is right?

The objective was to improve the team I hope. Rivera did NOT upgrade any position coaches. He chose to keep the band together. The TE coach did retire but outside of that, no upgrades were made at all. He is rolling with the same coaching staff that has back-to-back losing seasons. This makes no sense.

Does Rivera really think Wentz is the answer? My question would then be, what does he know that Philly and Indy didn't? Wentz was run out of town in just 1 year in Indy with a QB friendly/offensive-minded head coach. I trust Reich over Rivera when it comes to evaluating the QB position.

Now on to free agency. Rivera chose to bring back some of his own under-performing players instead of looking to upgrade. It was a parade of mediocrity to be honest and major holes were not filled. Rivera weakened the OLine (Flowers and Scherff) and then weakened the DLine depth (Iman and Settle). Scherff should have been dealt two years ago, but he claimed he "wanted to be here". Scherff was always going to leave but Flowers apparently didn't want to restructure. He was replaced with Norwell.

Bringing back McCain is fine, McKissic is a 30-year-old scatback who can't run between the tackles, and Sims is a never-ending project who has proved nothing. Lucas is a good depth signing. Roughly speaking, Rivera has done really nothing in free agency to improve the team. He appears to be betting on Wentz and the draft to improve team.

There are numerous holes such as: MLB, #2 WR, #2 RB, back up TE, DL depth and CB depth. Rivera cannot draft all of these positions. You cannot fix all issues in 1 offseason, but Rivera continues to kick areas of need down the road. MLB comes to mind as he thought Jon Bostic would be the answer there (even though he graded out as the worst MLB in the NFL). Davis looked uncomfortable from the get-go at MLB as well. Rivera doesn't draft necessarily well either, so that doesn't help. I have no clue what the draft strategy will be but I doubt it moves the needle with this team.

The bottom line; Rivera is in a bad spot and his moves make no sense for the most part. If a QB is taken early, then that means Wentz was not intended to be the long-term answer. He basically wasted 28 million and two 3rd round picks on a bridge QB. Rivera might be ok on the field but his front office moves and philosophy are what will get him run out. He created cap room for what purpose? He could sign a few free agents still out there I guess. This was my concern when he was hired. He has no real GM experience and building the plane as he flies it.

How the hell is RB#2 a hole? The only major hole on this team is MLB. We signed our #2 Wr last year. What wrong with Bates and a #2 Te? I agree with DL depth but the Buffalo guy helps. Wouldnt be shocked if the #11 pick is used on a pass rusher. We need Safety depth. CB is tricky. I think Johnson can be a #4Cb in this league.

I think the team is all in on Wentz this year. If he fails they will address QB in next year's FA and draft. The good thing about the Wentz trade is that there is no gmoney in 2023 for Wentz. So if he fails we get can get out of it money wise. We just lose the draft picks. But a 3rd and possible 2nd is a SMALL price to pay to get a possible Franchise QB.

If we are offerd a 1st next year we are taking it. Just like the Giants did. Is Fields better than Willis?

Of course I say no and with a middle finger to boot. They want something that you should have but as usual you're willing to let go play elsewhere. WASHINGTON NEEDS A QB!! Which part of this are you not getting?
There ONLY one way that I take that deal and that is if I able to move back up to get my QB.

I will add this, next year's QB crop is going to be much better than the 2022 edition. We'll, at least the top 3 prospects next year.
