It was just a surprise to see PG county mentioned, that's all.
Growing up most of my friends played at Coolidge, Dunbar and in PG Roosevelt.
It didn't take much to set off a fight, I'm just saying comparing that to Va, folks were much more disciplined /sometimes overly sensitive. However, I'm not saying VA couldn't absolutely punish whoever they lined up against
We played Roosevelt.

DC and PG County were much different than VA. You are correct it did not take a lot to start a fight and you learned early you had to be ready for that ore get bullied on a regular basis.

Fredericksburg in the 80s had about 25 people living there, not sure if dad was still there or not. Not that there weren't a few big ole farm boys there. I still go to Fredericksburg fairly often.

What college did you play at chill? What DII school did you coach at skinz? Maybe we know some of the same people.

I personally had a shot to attend ECU.
Not athletic wise though lol.
Man, me trying to remember names now, would be harder than Josh Gordon resisting a drink

My brother and I plus 3 friends would head back to Alexandria (when I was in HS) and run full court most weekends in the summer of '85, '86 & '87. Let me just say it didn't take much to set off a fight there either. If you didn't show up with the right mindset, you were liable to get clocked in the back of your head running down court by whomever from the other team. Lol, the good old days...

I'm not saying we were better than anyone else back then, but, we were tough as nails and never backed down. We actually did play vs Terry Kirby one year. He went to Tabb HS down south. I believe HOF Bruce Smith came out of Norfolk as well as some other NFL greats.

Well let me tell you, nothing much changed, i was a little guy in 85, but balled with friends in the DMV before that term was coined, probably like most of us.
I do remember a game at T.C Williams
Where a guy challenged me one on one for my shoes after we beat his team.
He tried to diss me, so i said he was scared if he didn't play me straight up.
I was winning but, during the game lots of his boys started yapping, and saying "i got next" and threatening me. I determined, it was in my best interest to lose on purpose. We shook hands, and he actually checked his boys and they left me alone....wild vibe, if you know...you know

yes, yes, yes...you made the memories come back instantly. There were some bad asses up there and some bad apples to deal with as well. Did your boys not stick up for you?

The numbers weren't on our side, and we all have friends where heart isn't enough if you can't help them, lol.
