Nuggets or Lakers, who should the Jazz root against tonight? One, Lakers losing increasing the chance of keeping the 1 seed longer and further wins may make it more likely to keep. Nuggets are in the division so a big slide later could jeopardize that.

I know the answer is root for the Nuggets, but with three Laker OT wins and a 20 point comeback, I’m tired of being disappointed.
I almost never root against other teams. It's wasted energy.

Plus, like you pointed out the answer is not always simple.

Or in other cases, then how would I feel if say, both the Lakers and Jazz lost? I wouldn't care about the Lakers because the Jazz lost.

So I keep it simple. I root for the Jazz, not against any other team, for a win or loss.

Maybe I can compromise? Maybe when the Lakers are playing anyone else, I root against the Lakers. But when they are playing anyone who could help us with a loss, be neutral. Also, maybe not be interested when they are playing a bad team because too often it would disappoint... so only mediocre teams? Just kidding.

This is why it's too complicated for me to think about.

I'd rather think about things like I wonder what the most 100% FT game Gobert has had (most makes), or the most misses Stockton has had.

I'd be more interested in 40 points in the least amount of time, regardless of if they came off the bench.

What's the difference between a bit and a piece? Which are your bits, and which are your pieces?

I didn't understand this comment. Why is it bad news?

He started the season poorly, then had a few good to great games, but then the bad play returned.

So it was a prediction that based on his overall performance for the season, he would have bad play?

No, he played poorly, thus I said he (bad version) returned.

Now that the Lakers have lost two in a row, I think I’m rooting for them to win against Washington so that they have no extra motivation to fix things against us. Not that they will lull themselves into complacency, but I don’t want them to be coming out of a three game losing streak.

Before it is said, I fully believe they can and will beat the Lakers at some point and it may be this Wednesday. I just don’t want it to be due to circumstances.

How about the satisfaction of beating another team, when they're the hungriest for a win? So by continuing to lose, the Lakers, in this case, are hungry. Then if the Jazz beat them, they will know they beat them when they really wanted to win.

As opposed to if the Lakers had won against Washington, then it might not be so bad for them to lose against the Jazz, as they had at least gotten the monkey off their back, for the long losing streak.

Do you have any @MHSL82 wisdom about Wednesday's game?

I know whoever scores more points wins the game. Whoever scored fewer points is less happy. At least to some degree temporarily.

I am a bit tired of Mitchell’s slow starts but I’m not tired of his great second halfs. i know I can’t be upset about one without appreciating the other. I wonder if there is a reason for this? I know that one teams have energy at the beginning of the game, the game plan will be to take away Mitchell. But also on the flipside they would have to be some sort of superiority in adjustments or in the ability to have the energy in the second half.

Mike Breen: "Coming up at halftime: Shades of Dirk in the G league."

Jeff Van Gundy: "I don't think so. There is no one in the G league like Dirk.

Can we not skip steps? Do we have to compare them to an All-Time great?

How about comparing a G league player, to Juwan Howard, to start with?"

They want to be the one who told everyone so. Sort of like when Rudy Gobert was in the G league. Even then, I wouldn’t presume that there is a Dirk. Just like Malone said about Boozer, let him be Boozer, not Malone. The player Breen was talking about, if he’s good enough, people will remember him as himself. But I do think “shades of Dirk” just means a little bit, not a twin.

Good catch on the "shades of" part.

I think your overall sentiment is right though. You can't throw the name of a HOF as a comparison out there though, even it's preceded with the qualifier of "shade of".

What do you remember about the buzz around Gobert, when he was in the G league?

As for a Malone comparison, I think Anthony Davis and Karl-Anthony Towns are the closest, since then.

However, Davis has established his own identity. Other differences are that he's a better shot blocker than Malone; not as good of a passer; and was a jerk for the way he was disinterested in his last season in New Orleans.

Towns is also good. However, it would be better if he could do it on a bigger stage, in the playoffs, like Malone would do every year. Yes, the playoffs are a team achievement. But, it's also not overly obvious that Towns is a hall of fame talent, like say Garnett was, when he was on average Minnesota teams. Garnett was a case where his statistical contributions were so great, that his average team success could be overlooked.

With Towns, he's not there when it comes to steals, and assists. His rebounding numbers are good, even better than Garnett and Malone's, but I don't think he dominates a game with his rebounding, like the former two could. A bit of a subjective opinion there.

I guess Towns has his own identity too, partially tied to Minnesota.
