Of course Gruden wanted to win now to save his job. He wasnt thinking long term needs of the team. How are Keenaum and Mccoy long term QB's needs for the team? No other pick in that first round would have saved his job. DH was the 2nd ranked QB, some people at him 1st on their board. After that year he had at Ohio St. it was justified to take him when you have crap QB's on our roster. It was the #15 pick in the draft not #2. At the time the pick made sense on so many levels. The player didnt pan out b/c of the players fault, not the owners.
if stats dont matter then neither do rankings . you act like colt and keenum were building blocks in JG's mind . JG KNEW DHC was a bust from day one . he was proven right . every year there are qbs who are thought to be the next great franchise qbs and they turn to urine . how many people thought Chosen Rosen was the man ? . there was talk of trading our pick to get him . but JG knew he was a bust too . the FRAKING OWNER ignored his football people and made the pick . ITS ALL HIS FAULT FOR MAKING THE PICK HE gets 90% of the blame and DHC gets 10 %

b/c it was your future QB. Gruden didnt care about the future b/c he had to win now to save his job. You cant fault an owner wanting to get a franchise QB at pick #15 overall when you have Mccoy and Keenaum on your roster. Cmon guys. cant play Monday morning QB here. At the time the pick made sense. It ddint work out. He should have been cut, I totally agree.
This comment is just flat out dumb. Sorry, dean.... it just is.

If Snyder wasnt an asshole he should’ve thanked Gruden for NOT simply taking the quarterback that he didnt want anyway simply because he was rated highly by others.

He should have thanked Gruden for having the stones to NOT pick a qb he didnt want even though Gruden knew that Gruden needed to do better to save his job.

It would be interesting to know who Gruden dif want instead of Haskins, and how they are doing. I’m guessing, at the very least, they probably werent benched three times in one season, including once to a journeyman who wasnt even on the team at the beginning of the season.

Keenum wasnt great, but he did have a tremendous season in Minnesota the year before. McCoy was a b

So you blame Ari for picking Rosen when they needed a QB? The player didnt perform so its the owners fault. Cmon man.

No, at the time the pick was justified FOR SNYDER.
Not for Gruden or any other footbal person on the team at the time.

why is this so hard for you to understand?

Its a QB. We needed a QB. You are playing Monday morning QB here. The pick was justified b/c of the current roster. The pick didnt perform. 1st round pick bust all the time. I understand Snyder made the pick b/c he wanted a future QB for his team.

He we go again with the football people. You cant tell me that there wasnt a 1st round grade on Haskins in the Redskins war room. Sure the owner overstepped but it was for a QB. Synder gave up 3 first rounds pick for RG3. His guy slipped in the draft so he drafted him against Gruden's bidding which was probably going to get fired anyways.

you cant tell me that was a majority case either . . the owner overstepped and hence he is to blame its that simple no matter what grades were assigned , or any other fucking dodge you wish to put up there . HE MADE THE PICK

Like debating with a two-year-old.

I think I’m done here.

No way. You are making it like Synder took a 5th round QB prospect at #15 overall.
i am saying his football people said DHC wasnt worth the pick and he overrode them thus making him to blame

I understand he overrode his football people. But to give DH a free pass for his failure is ridiculous. Synder couldnt determine if he wasnt going to study hard or do stupid things off the field. He saw talent, he needed a QB, so he made the pick.

How is it a bad pick when our Qb's were Mccoy and Keenaum at the time?

Our QBs being McCoy and Keenum have no bearing on DH being a good or bad pick.

A pick is EITHER good or bad.

Let‘s use your logic and pretend Dwayne Haskins had stayed in school. Would it have been a good pick to take Drew Lock at 15 overall because he was the next QB taken? Take it a step further and pretend Lock wasn’t here. Will Grier was next at 100 overall. Would it have been wise to take him at 15 because you are so desperate not to have CM or CK start? That is your justification taking DH at 15 overall.

I am not saying DH was a good or bad pick. I am not blaming Snyder for DH because we don’t know how it went down. I am saying your logic is horrendous. You can’t make healthy decisions in anything relying on desperation.
