Guess Choo could be a PH if traded. Funny Woody had Refsnyder PH for Choo earlier who is now released. To get so little is probably insulting to all. Who knows what happens to MILB lower level guys.

Really if a guy needs experience just play him over Choo. IMO a more logical option
Lol

"Since Andrus chose not to opt out of his contract following either of the last two seasons, the Rangers are committed to $28.5 million in payments over the next two seasons. If he remains a regular and amasses 1,100 plate appearances over 2021-22 or 550 in 2022, he would vest a $15 million option for 2023."

They have to make sure Elvis's contract doesn't vest.

Love Elvis but he will likely block someone of playing time for the future. Wish he could be traded to a play off team for a chance at a ring. He certainly deserves one.

As the trade deadline passes, attention turns to Elvis Andrus’ murky future with the Rangers

"Over the weekend, Woodard said Andrus and Rougned Odor, who went to the IL on Tuesday with an eye infection, were “signed to be part of the answer.”'

If Odor is part of the answer then the Rangers must be asking the wrong questions.
or the ownership and JD have no plans for this team to be anything but a low level non-competitive team keeping payroll as low as possible

no one wants Elvis

he's terrible

only reason he hasn't gotten more criticism is because everyone is focused on how mega terrible Odor is

Guzman was 2 for 4. Worth mentioning since he needs playing time to try and improve hitting.

IKF was 3 for 5. He seems to be improving daily. He also had a good game on defense.

well no team is going to trade for either so we are stuck with them for 2021 along with Gibson and Lyles. the only signed player we can pass on is Kluber who has an $18M team option with a buyout of $1M. that would reduce the 2021 payroll to 7 players under contract for $61916667.

Elvis still has plenty of value. Oder has none. Glad you pointed out that about Kluber.

The ownership gets what they want a payroll below 2019’s. Significantly below. Add all the arb’s and we are around $84M or about 65% of 2019. Find trade partners for Elvis and Lance in the off-season and we could be down to $65-70M. Of course we wouldn’t compete but they would be saving buckets of money

They are planning on filling the seats and will for the first few weeks and then when the low budget kicks in it will bite them in the butt.

Agreed fans, especially me, want to see a competitive team and when they don’t they move on.

Rangers Had High Asking Price In Lance Lynn Trade

'“I would not have been proud of some of those deals if we made them,” Daniels told reporters following the deadline"

Maybe, he can find a deal that makes him proud in the offseason when Lynn's value to other teams is significantly less. As long as he can be proud, that is all that matters. Lol

76wrc+ in 2018 and 2019. 34wrc+ so far this year.

He's a guy that needs good baserunning and defense just to be a bad MLB starter. Once that athletic ability starts to decline, he'll be one of the worst players in baseball. (he already is this year)

Fangraphs had Elvis ranked as the 29th best shortstop out of 30 teams coming into this season.

Unfortunately, Elvis needs a coach riding him and a player like Beltre riding him to be a good player. That is very disappointing.

With a season like this is hardly comparable to the last two. A little over half season gone. Different line up every night. Been on the IL for a week. Yes he is older but to say he is a bad player is just plain bs. Turned two dbl plays last night that won a game for us and homered 1st bat.

Until this team is ready to be serious contenders, evidenced in part by seriously pursuing really good free agents, then player development should be more important than win totals. If young talent leads the team to 95 wins that is great, but if it only leads to 70 wins then that is fine. A 70 to 75 win team that is developing players is better than an 85 win team that is not doing all it can to develop players.
