Quick two games with the league's worst team. Before seeing them again for two more in a couple of weeks at their place. With Giolito and Kuechel throwing? There's really no excuse for having a letdown and not taking both.
We've been playing very well. It hurts not finding a way to take the sweep in Wrigley, but you have to be happy with how we performed in taking two of three. We're still winners of 7 of our last 8 as well.
IMO, this is a MASSIVE stretch. The cake of our schedule. We have a chance to take this little run we're on and turn it into a BIG, BIG run.
Check out our schedule over the next 3 weeks:
vs PIT x2
vs KC x3
at MIN x3
at KC x4
at PIT x2
vs DET x3
That's a 17 game stretch with 14 games coming against KC/DET/PIT. We're tied with Cleveland for 2nd place after their loss vs MIN. 2.5 games back of MIN for 1st. Not only do we have an opportunity to stack wins vs some of the league's worst. We have Minnesota sandwiched in there for 3.
I realize we're not going to keep hitting HR's at a god-like pace. However, if we play well, I don't think it's out of the question to take 11 to 13 of these 17 games. That would give us 28-30 wins heading into the final stretch, making us a shoe-in for the playoffs, and giving us a damn good shot of taking down the division.
If you are wondering - after this stretch? It's home vs Minnesota for 4. A big one.
