Will there be any bowls outside of the NY6?

If yes, how tf are they going to rework who is eligible for a bowl? Will 4-6 teams be eligible?

1. It depends on COVID and how it goes.

2. I think conferences will select their teams for bowls based on agreements and how they finish in the league. Records will factor but I think the cut off will be dictated by conference rankings.

It’s going to suck and the bitching will be unbearable if it gets that far.

I say look at the annual pairings over the last 3-5 years. if your normal is a couple of 6-6 or 7-5 teams cut the bowl.
will we really miss the Cheeze it bowl, Belk bowl, or pinstripe bowl?

What's the difference in 4-6 teams that played all P5 conference teams (or all but one) and 6-6 teams that played 3-4 "fluff" games during a 12 season?

I personally think this season will be great to watch IF we actually have a season. No cupcakes...except the conference kind.

I'd be fine if every bowl game traditionally played on or before December 26 were cancelled permanently.

By the season's end, there may not be enough teams still playing to fill out very many bowl slots.

I vote we eliminate the Sun Bowl regardless of Covid. I’m sure it’s a nice play when it isn’t Christmas season but it sucks fat balls during Christmas and the border will still probably be closed so you can go into Mexico to get cheap fun.

Boo! The Sun Bowl is GLORIOUS!

The 2nd oldest Bowl Game only trailing the Rose:

Alabama is 3-0 in the Sun Bowl including a resounding victory (28-6) over the Washington Huskies in 1986.

Iowa State played their first Bowl Game @ Sun in 1971 under Johnny Majors vs. LSU and Charlie McClendon! Two of my favorite coaches of all-time. What a match-up!

I am an Alumnus (as a fan) of the 1996 Game when Ty Willingham and Stanford spanked Nick Saban and Michigan State 38-0.

Yes and No. I can do without the lower Bowls matching 6-6 P5 teams, but I LOVE Bowls like the Camellia which matches a GOOD MAC vs. a GOOD Sun Belt Team.

Yep. Right behind the Rose. Few people know that.

And, it isn't one of the ESPN whores! Not many know that either.

Yep! The fact that it is on CBS EVERY YEAR shows how important it truly is. I have always loved the Sun Bowl! Look forward to going again one day. If they still have the Sun Carnival Basketball Tournament, BONUS! Would love to see Iowa State or Alabama play in it again.

That was great back in the day....prior to Hawaii, Alaska and the Carribean tourneys. Once those started, it was hard to attract big name schools like it was prior to those.

What is still good is the Sun Carnival Golf Tournament. They always invited the top couple of dozen best players returning from the NCAA tourney the previous years as well as a few top players from DII, DIII and NAIA. They play on Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. And you can actually get real close to the players around the tee boxes and along the fairways. I used to take those two days off and watch the tourney. It was great to see those players knowing you would see a lot of them on tour some day. i.e. Curtis Strange didn't win it!

Goes back as far as getting to see Peter Jacobsen, Jerry Pate, Mark O'Meara and the likes when they played in college. While the players like the fact that it is more relaxing because there isn't a lot of pressure since their teams aren't involved, it is played against such a good field it is a notch in their belt if they can win it.

A sample of some of the past champions: Davis Love III, David Duvall, Notah Begay, Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar, and Webb Simpson. And there were a lot of tour names people would recognize that didn't win. One of the most interesting I saw was Rory Sabbatini. He played all 36 holes in a big ass sombrero.

Tradition went out the window when we went BCS and let ESPN create bowl games. Can we at least agree to play the Sun Bowl after the NC game then, or two weeks prior?
